I enjoy taking weekend trips to Birmingham via Nola. A lot of great breweries and restaurants popping up.

Left Baton Rouge to drive to the SEC Baseball tournament in Hoover around 3am to be able to make it to the first game on time. Something really peaceful about driving through the Alabama "hills" during a late spring sunrise. Loved that trip, gotta do it again soon.

NO doubt.
We left around that time to go to Gatlinburg/LSU v Tenn a couple years ago.
We were approaching Birmingham during sunrise. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful

I can only drive about 40 miles on the road system, so I'd say that.
It's a very relaxing drive though, very calming.

The drive from Miami to Key West, when the traffic isn't bad.

Haburgers at Littons on Broadway in Knoxville, then down 411 , stop at Benton's Bacon for Bacon, then to the Cherohala Skyway over to western NC, up to Asheville to I-26 to Johnson City, continue to US 11W and home. (If the sky is Crstal Clear, detour up 25E, stop on Clinch Mountain overview to see the Smokies again, then west on State Route 131 (two lane road, so rural you won't believe it) or a bit farther to Harrogate (Lincoln Museum, Cumberland Gap National Park) and State Route 63 (Powell Valley)
Then home.
Just to remember that Interstates get you there faster, but there are still unspoiled places with decent roads.

North to Natchez, MS. And if nothing going on, up to the delta to hear some blues.

Bump it up to 7-8 hours and there's a whole mess of places I like to go. I feel like SWLA is far away from everything.
