I always planned for Central Florida but lately I'm thinking it might still be too hot there for me.

The wife and I are considering getting a house on Toledo Bend. Pros/Cons? We have lived in Texas since graduating LSU in the late 80s so...

I am from Lafayette and prefer to avoid that mess. She is from Bossier... enough said. What say you all?

I'm ten years out from shuttin it down. It will be Toledo Bend or out of state for me! But If I had to stay in state I'd look at St. Francesville.

Squire Creek / Top Fishing Lake within 30 miles/ cheap land/taxes

LINK

Squire Creek is a private, members-only facility, which features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Fazio. The course was ranked as one of the top 10 best new courses in America by Golf Digest in 2004. Squire Creek's 18 championship holes are hand cut into the Northern Louisiana landscape. They offer a fair but challenging test to players of all calibers. The 7,105 yard, par 72 layout is characterized by a gentle rolling plain and plays feature to neighboring beautiful Southern style homes. Natural views and picturesque scenery surround our property to provide a perfect escape.

close enough to Tiger Stadium
As close as you are to your big screen TV, long as Tigers are relevant in CFB their games are on.
That opens FL, TX, MS, AR, AL as close proximate possibilities. Day trips by car or less if by air.

You can get to Hemphill or Center for groceries and the such. It's laid back and there is nothing wrong with that.

Natchez MS is a certified retirement city according to the sign they put up. 90 minutes from Tiger Stadium. Four lane all the way. Sports betting st their casino. Access to golf, fishing and a local Applebee’s.

Just don’t come here looking for a job. The blue hairs in the Garden Club have made sure that the only people living in Natchez that will ever have money are the ones with OLD money or millionaire transplants who think like they do. What they got is a total vacuum of skilled workers now and a whole lotta culcha bc that’s all there is for people who can’t just pick up and move.

You can get a spectacularly overpriced deal on a colonial style rundown bed and breakfast anywhere around downtown. Those suckers are going down like flies!

I would either live in St. Francisville, The U-Club, or Lakeview (Baton Rouge).

Bigfork Montana on Flathead Lake. Beautiful country, no crime, just a little cold in the winter.
