When siblings marry generation after generation:

I had a bad ingrown toe nail when I was younger. The doctor my mother took me to pulled the entire nail and it never grew back right since. I've lost this nail a few times over the course of my life (hit with a baseball, kicked the fridge on accident, Caught it on a couch leg once) each time it grew back more screwed up than the last. Now it grows about half of the width that it used to and grows thick. At a certain point during growth it starts to grow into the skin on the top of my toe. Rather than cut it with clippers (it's too thick anyway) I get a pair of channel locks and a shot of whiskey and pull it. (about once a year)

Similar situation with my big toe - horse stomped on it 15 or so years ago which started a cycle of falling off and growing back more wonky each time. A podiatrist killed the roots of the nail so it no long grows back. I suggest you look into this. Worked out great for me.

I was born without finger/toe nails
I’ve never lost any of them even when I’ve broken toes/fingers
My boys’ little toes never have nails

I hurt reading every post.
Then you’ll hate this one. I have severe neuropathy in my feet. No feeling. The last time I was losing a toenail the podiatrist just pulled it off. No numbing at all. I didn’t feel a thing. That was several years ago. Haven’t lost one since knock on wood.

Lost my finger nail two years ago. Stayed with my parents during the Texas freeze, their dog attacked our dog, I had to pry open their dog’s jaw to free our dog. Punctured my finger, fractured the bone, and nail was mangled.

I've lost a thumb nail a few months ago and a ring fingernail a few years ago, both at work, due to being smashed between mold lid assembly and a hoist chain. Fun every time.

Almost lost the tip of my pinky finger in a door jamb. Had it sewn back on. Fingers are painful. Lots of nerves.

After lots of bourbon or tequila, I heat a needle up to cherry red and push it through the nail, to release the pressure.

Did you ever catch up with the yorkies?

My dog ran and jumped on a swinging gate a pushed it into my toe when I had on flip flops. It wasn’t fun

I got my pointer finger slammed by one of those old school screen doors with the long spring ensures the door doesnt stay open.
i ended up putting a hot paper clip thru the nail to relive the pressure from all that fluid.
The fingernail fell off, but grew back as the roided out perfectly shaped version of itself. It's a pain in the arse to trim.

A date that will live in personal infamy.
I brushed my fingers into a moving table saw blade. The angle cut the ends of my fingers in half, like mangled hot dogs hanging off the bone.
Thank the Lord, the fingers are healing and actually look like fingers again. However, my nail beds are all screwed up with scarring right down the middle. The nails that are growing back are all jacked up.
While at the ER, I had to assist the doctor in finding the nail fragments that remained on my fingers so she could yank them off. She said they needed to be removed and that new nails would grow back. That was unpleasant.

You don’t want to see what a friend did to his thumb with a mandolin. Can’t unsee that.
