When’s the last time you lost a finger or toe nail?

What happened?
Think I’m losing a toe nail from kicking the shite out of a chair with sandals on…but damn it’s been since ‘97 at LSU since it’s happened. Ripped a thumb nail off back then trying to build a fence by myself.

Lost a nail when I had a big ol' cart at Target loaded down with shite and it ran over my toe

It was the week after Christmas. Had a huge tree cut up and was splitting logs on the log splitter. Picked up a giant log and was laying it down onto the log splitter that was horizontal, not vertical, and my middle finger got caught between the log and the end piece of the splitter as I dropped it down. That fingernail fell off, grew back, and is just now starting to look normal except for the giant ridges and humps in it.

Had my big toe's toenail jacked up while cleaning up after Laura. Took a few shots of crown, waited til it kicked in, and then finished ripping it off.

a few years ago I sustained a dancing related injury at a wedding... had to have it surgically removed and the entire doc's office agreed I was the bravest patient they'd ever had.
it grew back totally fine, but now any time I stub my toe or kick something I panic a little because I don't wanna be that brave again.

I cut my thumb in half, right through my nail. Lost half of it but miraculously it grew back fine.
Unfortunately my thumbprint scanner on my phone won't work

Smashed a fingernail in my front door closing it while trying to carry a bunch of stuff a few years ago. I eventually lost that nail. Before that, probably childhood.

How do they do that in a Dr’s office. I can’t imagine.

About a week ago. Playing with my dogs chasing them around the house and caught my toe on a chair leg. The whole nail was at a 45 degree angle until I yanked it off. That was not a good day

Lost an thumbnail couple years ago. Bushhogging at deer camp and was hammering on the blade to free it up, and totally tagged my thumb with the hammer.

They’d have to put me under.
My toe nail is so sensitive right now. I’d jump out of this chair if someone touched it.

About 2.5 years ago
My garage door got off the track on one side and was stuck in a half way open position. I was trying to move it back in place but I had to work around this piece of metal that is mounted horizontally to the wall from the track. When I tried to move one hand above it, I dropped the door and the roller pinched my finger in the track.
I thought I was gonna lose my whole finger, the pain was incredible. But I didn't, so I was happy. Took probably 4-5 months to grow back and look normal again.

Right now, nicely smashed a finger and ripped off half a nail in a tragic patio umbrella folding incident this past weekend.

Dropped a wine bottle on my big toe (wearing Top Siders) a couple of weeks before Katrina.
The nail hung in there through the storm and finally fell off in my shoe whilst I was repairing my hacienda.

I had a bad ingrown toe nail when I was younger. The doctor my mother took me to pulled the entire nail and it never grew back right since. I've lost this nail a few times over the course of my life (hit with a baseball, kicked the fridge on accident, Caught it on a couch leg once) each time it grew back more screwed up than the last. Now it grows about half of the width that it used to and grows thick. At a certain point during growth it starts to grow into the skin on the top of my toe. Rather than cut it with clippers (it's too thick anyway) I get a pair of channel locks and a shot of whiskey and pull it. (about once a year)

I like it. When rockets explode at NASA we call them an ‘event’. Definitely not a failure if you learn something.

Lost the toenail off my big toe after running over it with a pallet jack.
It took a while to fall all the way off and that was the worst part. It took even longer to grow all the way back but that was easy. No pain or discomfort. But it took around 6 months, or that’s what I recall in hindsight.
