I find it’s almost always easier to say what you mean and be direct. So that’s what I try to do all the time.

I do it every time I walk into the ladies locker room at the gym. Damn them if they don’t like that my truth is that I identify as a woman for the 10 minutes I’m in there.

Anytime someone talks about how they subjectively perceive something, or how something made/makes them feel, they are speaking “their truth”, at least in the way it was originally used.
The problem is that, very quickly, people decided that their feelings and subjective perceptions were very, very important. In fact, more important than the objective reality of the situation, other people’s motivations and intentions, etc. Now “their truth” is more important than “the truth”, which is why it’s fricked.

In college, we rented a house in the hood. You could feel the tension in the air. But, thought it would be cool living close to downtown and campus. Within a month, our house and car had been broken into 3 times and pipe burst during an ice storm. There were 3 of us and one bailed. Never saw him again. My other roommate and I couldn’t afford the place without a third. I went to the planning department (this was before most stuff was online) and looked up our zoning code. These hose was zoned for no more than 2 unrelated people. I wrote a letter to the landlord using all the fancy words I’d learned in business law 101. Basically contracts for something illegal are void. After we moved out, I get a call from the landlords attorney telling me how angry she was but I was right and there was nothing she could do. I let her keep the security deposit. Not really my truth but my dad was proud.

True yet it's not as black and white as that. Not everyone knows the real truth so they use peripheral evidence and their own perspective to come to a self described "my truth" they believe yet is contrary to the reported truth.
3 examples, 9/11, JFK and the moon landing. The govt has given us their version of the "truth" yet millions of Americans, in all 3 cases, dont accept the "truth". I'd venture at this point more Americans disagree with the "truth" than agree with it in all 3 cases. So, whats the truth? Who gets to tell it? Should/would we believe them? Make no doubt, the truth is the truth and it's out there. What good is it if no one believes it?
