A little different turn on land lines:

In the 80s, we had 5 of us within 4 years as it was a second marriage for both parents. We had two phone lines in the house and one was listed as “children’s telephone” in the white pages. We still used our parent’s line as our line was often being used.

I have a landline don’t ever use it but I have one. Notice it is that much more to add. I also have regular cable but stream a lot of stuff also on an Apple TV.

Yesterday. It’s pretty cheap and we have it for when we leave the kids alone.

I remember keeping one for a few years only because I had an original TIVO box with a lifetime subscription but it had to be plugged into a landline to download the information. I finally tossed the unused phone and the TIVO box in the trash.

There was a brief period of time, pre-smart phone, HDTV and streaming and when the internet was still a little clunky where we all thought TIVO was the greatest thing since sliced bread. And if you got in early with that lifetime subscription deal you felt like you had won the lottery.

Land line? yesterday evening.

Out in the boondocks with some iffy electric service, a land line comes in handy. It's also a smoother sound feed than a lot of cell phones that friends use to call us.

Three years ago when I built our new house. Keep the landline at the old house till we moved because that was one of the number my mother with Alzheimer’s could remember and she was the only one that ever called us on it for probably 10 yrs.

I know for sure it was sometime before Katrina hit N.O., so pre 05 but can't pinpoint it for sure.

My late father-in-law had a land line up till the time he died in 2011 since where he lived cellphone reception was spotty at best. More times than not you had to walk around his property with one to get a signal.

At a home that I was living at? 14 years ago.

My parents, grandmother, and aunts and uncles on my mom’s side all still have landlines.
