In fairness, when I lived up north I put them up early. If it's already cold and we get a snow flurry it's Christmas time in my book.

We do it the day after thanksgiving but there's no reason why you shouldn't have some of it up already. Some of it is just festive

I got some awesome stuff last year on sale the day after Christmas, so I'm chomping at the bit. My wife is making me wait until Black Friday.

We are putting ours up this weekend. My husband wants to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, but we are having furniture delivered that day and painting a room in our house, so setting them up early this year.

I plan to cheat this year and put them up the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Actually that is a more accurate date of when Jesus was born

Christmas decorations are allowed during the month of December only. Anything sooner cheapens Thanksgiving, anything later and you are simply lazy white trash.

Not the hill you want to die on IMO fwiw. I think November 1st is fine unless you live in the South. But like most in this thread, we always do it the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I will go with "never". Of course, I am the a-hole who hates Christmas to begin with. I can't imagine that I am the only one who feels this way.

I put some up this weekend because my daughter was excited about seeing Santa and the candy canes.
If not for her I wouldn't bother.

I use this simple formula:

The first day after Thanksgiving in which the daytime temperature does not reach 65°F.

I'm not picking out my Christmas tree in t-shirt/shorts weather.

If it was up to me, I would leave lights up all year, but the tree has to come down around New Years.

I put our crap up the weekend before Thanksgiving. The kids like it, and if I'm going to go through the trouble of putting that shite up, I want to enjoy it for awhile.
