When Married Couples Build A House One Of Two Things Will Happen

A friend of mine managed a hardware (and lumber yard) store for years and the other day we were talking about something and he told me it is inevitable, when a couple starts building a home, at some point one of two things will happen. Divorce or pregnancy. Is this an accurate statement?
It seems hard to believe this would happen more than it doesn't. How many of you married people have gone through building a house without getting a divorce or pregnancy happening?

No. We married, bought house, had kid, built house, 3 years later had another kid

If they manage and subcontract everything themselves maybe. I've built many homes for couples and have never had any issues except for a few small things like paint colors or picking out appliances.

So the only other option is stay married but never have children. I'd say the odds are pretty good they get divorced or have kids. Your friend is an idiot.

The argument assumes the variable of building a house is essential. It fails to avail itself of the possibility that either divorce or having a child (or both) are highly likely outcomes regardless of whether they are building a house or not.

My wife and I have built 4 houses and neither have happened although the last one we built separate bedrooms.
