This is the kiss of death, but I’m at 292k on a 2019 F150 5.0… Shifts a little rough, and the typical Ford lifter tick is getting louder by the day, but I’ve made it this far. Have had some maintenance done, but nothing replaced…. I don’t see me making it to 325,000-350,000 though

Same situation with my Silverado…2006 with 285K. If it hadn’t been so damned dependable, I would have traded it long ago. I need to get something newer, but I wouldn’t trust it as much as the one I have now.

Those are relatively minor repairs.

It really depends on the year and model though.

IMHO you are nowhere near the point of having to get rid of the car due to possible major repairs. You should be asking this question at well over 200k miles, not just breaking 100k miles.

Yeah you can pay that in taxes alone on a new one, plus interest on the loan is another expense which makes keeping one as long as possible the best option

I drive a 2017 F150. I'd put a new engine in it tomorrow vs buying another one.

If it's a vehicle with a GM transmission, around 80k miles.

That is bullshite. I have a 2011 siverado with 176,000 on it and never had a issue.

I have an 18-year old truck that’s been paid off for 15 years.

I haven’t become tired or bored of no vehicle payments yet.

I have a 2010 f150 with a little less than 93K miles, not a thing wrong with it. I was lucky to be able to work from home shortly after so i didn’t have to drive from Clinton to S BR. I wouldn’t trade my truck for anything right now.

I replaced the tires about 6 months ago, and everything else started failing.

I’ve only owned Mazdas for the last 2 decades. Both were nearing 300k with no repairs, just normal maintenance and I totaled both (deer and a medical episode). I’m on my 3rd Mazda (160k) and it’s never been in the shop. Mazda has done well for me.

I got 221,000 on a Honda Accord.

I hope its my last vehicle ever.

I don't have money to get a car.

When it develops a problem that keeps leaving you stranded in traffic/creates a safety issue that no mechanic can seem to repair (or even replicate the problem to diagnose it).

2016 Z71 here. Tranny went out at 87000 miles. Now I’m at 212000, gonna ride it till the wheels fall off.

2017 Tahoe. Mine made it to 125k. 6k new tranny, 100k mile warranty. It’s paid for, drives great, looks great, I’ll be in the market at 224.5k miles

You are an anomaly. But the real problems started in 2015. GM transmissions for trucks and SUVs should absolutely be traded in by 80,000 miles. If you don’t then you can expect to buy a new transmission.

Even a $5000 dollar repair is cheaper than even a year of payments on most cars.

Is there a new car out there today that doesn’t lose that much value when you drive it off the lot?

So I took my vehicle in for a ABS sensor/Blind Spot Monitor issue. The dealership quoted me $50 more than the part so I told them to just change it. Apparently after it was changed the light never went off and the right sensor went off and they found the drive belts had tears.

I've gone from a $150 part and my time to now $700 and it has been a week and I still don't have my vehicle.
