What does the OT think about adults gaming? Have a friend who is 33 years old and games all night on weekends.

What age did you put up the controller?

I pretty much quit when I went to college. Maybe the occasional game of Goldeneye after that, but I haven't owned a system since the N64.

However, if you want to keep on gaming, go for it. I'm not going to judge people too harshly for their hobbies.

when my eyes/brain/hands couldn't process the insane graphics. So probably PS2 timeframe...mid 20s. I tried playing some games on a PS3 just for the fun of it and I suck.

That seems kind of sad, but I guess its better than other hobbies like being a drunk or hooked on drugs. Probably better hobbies than video games, but hey if it makes someone happy then who cares? I imagine its stress relief for people who grew up playing them. I do play CS:GO from time to time so cant talk too much shite.

I’m 32. There’s nights I come home from work and totally veg out playing fortnite. I suck at it and it chaps my arse that 7 year olds are beating me but I really don’t care. Sometimes I just want to unplug from the real world.

ETA: I don’t have kids, so it’s not like I’m ignoring responsibilities.

Video gaming is so popular now since most of us grew up at it's genesis (no pun intended). Gaming has been around since most of us were children, and I think it will last throughout our lifetimes. As long as it doesn't interfere with making a living, I won't judge how one spends their free time

I still play Madden on the PS4 with a group of friends I grew up with. Over 30 btw. It's fun and gives me something to do on weeknights.

I don't play for hours and hours however.

Don't see a problem though.

I used to play EvE with one of the 1st 10 MicroSoft employees who retired richer than rich. He had a single digit MS Employee ID Number. He was 88 years old.

So ...

Sometime after age 88 apparently.

People play cards, chess, shoot pool, and bowl as adults; why not play video games?

If you enjoy it, do it.

I would say occasionally in college but if you haven't given it up by then, you are missing out on life.

I'll play the major Nintendo releases and cheap indie games. The last full price game I bought was Smash Bros last December. I was planning on playing Pokemon this year, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. I might not play again until the BOTW sequel releases unless Animal Crossing sucks me in when it launches in March.
