He shot through the driver side window.

It's not false equivocation. It's the exact same argument. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's the same.

That's a lot of down votes for a common sense post
I know this is the OT, where everyone wipes their butt with $100 bills but in my world, where I work my arse off, the effort I put into earning enough money to buy that new vehicle is what that kid stole.
That is what I'm killing him for, each and every time and I wouldn't apologize to anyone for it.

Into the chest. Not the side, not the back....the chest. I can stand next to the path of an oncoming vehicle as it is coming at me and shoot through a drivers window and hit someone in the chest.

yikes then for your sake dont kill anyone over it. Your lawyer fees will be high.

Explain to me the difference.
Both say the victim of the crime should have not behaved in such a way so that they become a more "lucrative" target as it were.

No, it's not even close to exact.
Provocative dress is more akin to simply having a fancy, new car.
Leaving your car running, unlocked, and unattended is more akin to a girl sitting naked on the sidewalk with her legs spread apart.
Still not justified, but very poor decision making.
Your post would work better if responding to someone who said, "You wouldn't have gotten your car stolen if you didn't have a nice car."

And you’ll lose everything when you go to jail.

Irrelevant. You're blaming the victim for their actions and choices in both scenarios.

Apparently not since he isn't charged with anything

No one in the prison you’ll be in will care about your apology anyway, so you won’t have to worry about that

I get why some would shoot. I however, probably would have left my firearm where it was. The shooters life will be forever changed even though the choice he made was lawful. I would not want that on my conscience.
Killing someone who is carjacking me would not affect my conscience one iota. I wouldn't have fired either though because of the potential legal consequences alone.

This is not the majority of cases like this.

I bet 12 of my fellow citizens would say otherwise.
Anyhow, I'm making my move, chips fall where they may and I don't feel the least bit bad about it.

This firefighter isn’t. Most cases, the shooter is.

Ignoring the implications of your word choice of "blame," is this not common sense? Who is accountable for your decisions? Or did you mean to incorrectly assume I am "blaming" the victim for what happens to them?
Are you unable to think on a spectrum?
Dressing provocatively or driving a nice car is not necessarily an unreasonable or high risk choice, especially relative to the other situations I described. Are you disagreeing with that?

I would disagree.
There was a case in BR just today where a man was sentenced for shooting into a car but he literally ran outside after the "victim" and began shooting into the car.
If you do exactly as the Lieutenant did, you would be found not guilty if it went to court.

Basically it boils down to this.
If you kill someone for stealing your car and your life isn't in danger you'll most likely have huge legal bills, emotional tole (and don't act like you wouldn't you have no idea), possible jail time, the threat of victims family members retaliating, dealing with police, paperwork, court time on and on.
I'll let them take my car, file a police report, and go get my insurance check and move on.

Your life is far easier, FAAAAAARRRR easier to let them take the car
