Exactly. That’s the only thing I have an issue with. Any random person gets thrown in jail for this. Fireman gets special treatment.

I don't consider a 17 year old stealing a car a "little boy"
Chalk this up to the good guys. Another thug POS off the skreets.

eh, should have waited until he graduated to murder and THEN shot him.
of course that doesn't help the person he murders but,hey at least he got shot for something other than a car.

Isn’t your car considered an extension of your home?

Illinois’ “use of force” statute, which says a person is justified in using force to defend his life or the life of another if they reasonably fear similar force against them is imminent.
This doesn’t really fit.
If the firefighter was in the forward area (like 180 degrees, the front) of the vehicle and the vehicle was in "drive" that places the deadly weapon in motion towards the firefighter, i.e., an attempt on the life of the firefighter. Firefighter was taking an evasive action AND firing in self defense at same time.
quote:
"Vehicle starts to move forward. (The firefighter) moves to the left and draws his concealed firearm and fires one shot through the driver’s window.”

And an honest hard working man becomes a murderer.
Over a vehicle.

I should have used the word "human"
True. My point was I find it interesting that when those who seemingly defend the "humans" who are stealing/mugging/assaulting, etc., they tend to refer to them as "kids". Almost like to lessen their culpability for doing things, like stealing cars, or even carjacking.
I bet that of the people posting on here that have "kids", 99.9999999999999999% have kids that although they did stupid things, never stole a vehicle from a stranger. Stealing cars goes beyond the old dumb things kids do when growing up, imo.

in many states yes, but this isnt really an example of it being an extension of the home. moreso related to what you keep in it, searches, etc...

I have an idea. Don't take what's not yours and this POS would be alive. Is this really THAT hard to understand?

At this point claim temp insanity.
Leaving car running in Chicago proves insanity.

When has it ever become legal to shoot someone because they’re pulling off in your car?” she asked. “Even if (Macklin) did that, if he did steal the car. You’ve got insurance — let him go to jail. I would’ve rather had to get a call to go bail him out of jail than to get a phone call that he’s dead.”
Bet he won’t steal Anymore cars

That’s a lot of ifs that you’ve inferred from that statement. Not that you’re wrong or anything, we just don’t know.
I still think someone who isn’t a firefighter or cop stands trial, and that’s not fair. I should be able to protect myself from threats just the same.

That too.
1. Don't steal cars
2. Don't shoot people over cars.
both concepts are not hard to understand.
