Plan your goals and work for plan.

You can make 6 figure income and then you will stop.
Need to always move your plan once you reach a goal.
If you fall short make adjustments.

My goal at my age.
Retired
Stay working as a diesel tech for 1 more year to help train a young adult.

After that I will probably 100% be done, and then my goal is to not outspend my savings along with income.

Two years ago at 33. Multiple streams, though - teaching, coaching, and real estate.

I came close to doing that in July alone last year.

If everything closes as planned this month I’ll get pretty close, which is really unusual for March.

This is a college sports message board. So you likely have a disproportionately high level of folks with a bachelor’s degree.

Then add in the fact that you also likely have a high percentage of folks 40+ and the average income on this board should be $100k+. I think the mean income for people with a bachelor degree is about $80k and that’s regardless of age

For me, it was when I was 31, in 2010.

six figures aint what it used to be. It's the equivalent of $48K in 1993, when I was in high school. Im not at the 1993 version of six figures (which is when I first heard people talking about it). That would be $210K in todays money.

26 or 27....mechanical engineering degree in the oilfield. Couple years later, the slowdown hit and it stagnated for quite some time.

I got close in the mortgage business in either 2005 or 2006 and then it all came tumbling down in 2007. I remember that I had only made $12K in commission in 2008 when I finally submitted to needed a career change.

I haven’t been close to that amount since.

Exactly what I started at that year. Doing a hell of a lot better now.

As for straight out of school ChemE's this year...we are at $100,000.

At 24 I was making $13 an hour
25 I got my first salaried job at $36,000
29 I was up to $72,000
31 I crossed $100K

Due to inflation, the equivalent of $100,000 in 2001 (when I think a lot of us were either kids or young adults) is now $169,000. Six figures isn’t a good measuring stick anymore.
