When did you first become aware of your privilege?

Or that you were part of a systemic racist machine, intolerance, whatever.
Were you born woke, or was it in highschool, college, later in life?
If so, was your change instantaneous. Like the first time you first heard BLM or similar it hit you like a ton of bricks and you broke down right then and there in shame or was it a process?
Like people in AA telling the group what made them want to change and begin the 12 step program, maybe share your transition to wokeness? Did you wrestle with it, have an internal debate weighing an idea vs things you may have actually seen to the contrary of the idea? How did you drown out what other's may see as evidence against the idea like non-black poor who exhibit similar associated/mis-associated cultural traits (drug use, promiscuity, single mothers, teen pregnancy, criminal activity/records, government assistance, poor health/hygiene, uneducated, etc.)?
Anyone care to share their story of their path and maybe the circumstances that triggered their enlightenment?

probably when I stayed at a friends house in like the 3rd grade and realized him and all of his siblings slept on one mattress on the floor

When Oprah told me. I was blown away. I did not realize what a rabid horrible racist i was. Eye opening.

I'm too busy working to pay my mortgage and save up for retirement to find my privilege. Call me after I've retired in 15 years, I might have the time then.

Still waiting on the privilege to kick in...any minute now...

Never and don't plan on becoming "aware" anytime soon.

My parents worked hard to ensure their children would be privileged. Years ago that would have been called success but now it’s something that should be shamed. Both my parents grew up very not privileged and worked their way to the top through selflessness, sacrifice, and hard work.
I should tweet about how evil they are.

When I realized most of my classmates had never left the state and many had never left the county

Still waiting for mine to kick in.
Does it go by age? Income? I've been waiting forever.

The time I went Geo-caching at night. No way I would be doing that if I wasn't white

When I was lucky enough to stay up ALL night, two nights a week for two years, doing physics problems...trying to not only pass, but understand what I was doing. The privilege of expectations drove me to do whatever I needed to get through it. Lucky for that, because otherwise I would have quit.

Well, it was not when I got dunked on by a 15-year-old kid from Varnado...

Unfortunately - in the year 2020 - I have no idea whether OP is being facetious or completely serious.

My wife and I are too busy working to provide for our kids to give them a head start in life to be woke and worry about privilege.

I don’t get free crap so I’m not privileged

Not sure if it was when I was sleeping on couches in the living room of shitty apartments as a kid or when my parents divorced and I had to help raise my nephew and go through the college application process alone. One of those two.

Everytime a cop pulls me over for speeding, then lets me go with a warning.
After they let me go without beating me,I usually tell my wife "i love being white"
frick the down-voter
