Salmon, we probably go to the same movies. I always do Saturday or Sunday morning for movies. I NEVER and I mean NEVER go to the movies on Friday or Saturday night.
Certain demographics just don't get up early in the morning. Take advantage of that.

I think my tipping point was when a nice young couple brought a toddler into Ted at a 10:45pm Thursday night showing. That is when I said screw it and now only go to weekday matinees.
They would get up and rotate taking the kid to the hallway when it started crying every 5 minutes. I mean really, why even waste the $30?

Going to movies isn't a social experience. Shut the frick up and stop bothering everyone else in the theater. You're not cute or funny when you scream out at the screen. The only movies where it is appropriate to talk in are Jackass and the Room. There are no other exceptions.

The movie's weren't comedies either. The people were holding full length, regular volume conversations in dramas.
Couples seem to be really bad about it. If you want to talk during a date, go to a fricking restaurant, or watch a movie on the couch.

Sorry you hate to have fun at the movies but interaction is part of the experience. If something scary happens then I'll probably scream and then talk to my friends about how scary it was. It's also a lot of fun to tell characters that they're doing dumb things sometimes. I know they can't hear me because most movies are filmed before they go to theaters, but it's still fun to pretend and it helps get the rest of the audience involved.

I went to see GWTW at the theater last year. Lady in front of me kept texting away so it was like you had a flashlight in your face.
I nicely told her during intermission ( as I knew there would be one) that her phone's light was in my face and I don't think she realized it. I said during movies I usually bend over and keep it pointed up at the ceiling and that always seemed to work. She didn't do it again. Apologized.
