i think you're a little hung-up on sex.
i don't think sex was a major point in the Katy, Texas post. it's more about doing a bunch of shite you don't want to do to appease your wife and kids. in the situation he described, husbands are essentially slaves to the marriage. they work hard all day, get home do silly chores (that should have been handled by the wife), spend their weekends at soccer tournaments, doing projects around the house, going to brunch with their wife's friends, gender reveal parties, you get the idea. they don't get much time for themselves. that's what i got out of it.
eta: and a lot of guys like that, and that's great for them. but we are a selfish generation and that lifestyle doesn't appeal to a lot of young men. i honestly think this is more of a suburban lifestyle issue than sex/gender, but that's for another thread.

The long running joke around here is that once you get married you don't get sex anymore. It's always a part of every post on here about why you shouldn't get married or marriage is dumb. Marriage is only that way if you let it be.

I actually don't get the idea. A lot of what you've written could only be written by a young man with no kids. Your thoughts don't jive with reality. The overwhelming majority of parents would never look at their kids activities the way you described.
The "silly chores" bit is almost not worth commenting on. Adults have things they have to do. Getting married doesn't absolve you of doing shite around your house.
And as for the shitty social life, that's on you if you let your wife make you miserable.

That whole Harris/Burress discussion was impossible to listen to in one sitting. I normally like Hannibal but he was pretty much drunk and only on talking points. Sam's argument about invoking statistics instead of opinions went nowhere and my interest evaporated.

Both my wife and I (mid-forties- married 16 years) are from traditional two-parent families, so the norm we experienced is of both parents working together and willingly sacrificing their own needs for the betterment of their children. With that "cultural" background we see how we each benefited from it and are doing the same for our kids, now middle-schoolers.
As others have mentioned, the decline in this traditional set-up for child rearing has changed the culture and others growing up in other situations see pros/cons in other arrangements and are choosing different paths. I agree society as a whole suffers, but modern society is focused more on the individual liberties at this time; perhaps if/when the detriments of libertine-ism come into focus we'll swing back to traditional set-ups, and I agree it will take both sexes to be willing to make those sacrifices.
