When did "homemade" become a type/genre instead of actually being made at home?

Who started this movement?

Better said - who falls for this crap other than chodes?

Homemade hoghead cheese at a meats shop
Homemade cookies at a restaurant
Homemade furniture at a furniture store

We need truth in porn labeling requirements.

Would it come down to what zone the product was made in? Residential=Homemade, Commercial=Mass Produced

"Health Halos"

It's marketing bullshite to make you think something is healthier for you. For instance:

Crispy instead of fried
Plant-based
Artisan
locally sourced
made with organic ingredients

Then there's my favorite: Natural. It's interesting as a lot of ingredients are found in nature or derived from natural resources like high fructose corn syrup. Or all natural chicken. Well no shite, of course the chicken is natural.

Chipolte currently speaks of using "real ingredients". What is an unreal ingredient?

As to organic, horsecrap is organic.

The corn is natural, grown out of the ground on a farm.

The one that really gets on my nerves is Handcrafted. WayFair on Freret(closed now), advertised Handcrafted Sandwiches. WTF. Did some people think they had a machine in the back to make the sandwiches? I refused to go there because of this. There is a bar that advertises Handcrafted Cocktails. I've never seen a robot making my drink.

And if adjective-addicted foodies could watch a flock of chickens consume the carcass of a dead compatriot (fellow chicken) that drops dead, they'd have to come up with yet another adjective

Since we are talking about porn, I’m a huge fan of accidental cream pies videos.

It cracks me up. I know it’s scripted but something about it is just funny to watch

I ignore "homemade" labels. Like "organic" and "all natural" and a number of other catch phrases/words. They're there to sell me something. Now, if I want something truly homemade, I look for "handmade."

When I worked in restaurants, we were told to say it was "Housemade" because homemade made it sound too casual.
