What is the basis for your Post?

Or is this simply yet another false equivalency put forth by the left?

there are certain topics where the silent Reddit Lefty posters come out of the woodwork. most of them have less than a 1k post. see this topic and the Buffalo Shooting Thread.

A ton of “gotcha” type posts.

Federal subsidies of wind turbines in Texas has caused the displacement of traditional hydrocarbon based power plants. Plus there is the usual government incompetence to deal with. This crosses party lines and is one of the core reasons for wanting limited government.

Because in California politicians are intentionally throwing out an energy source because it’s “dirty”.

Texas welcomes ALL energy sources, but yes, the grid needs improvement.

Texas has growth, far more than California.

Texas needs to plan far ahead, its population is exploding. California is stagnant.

This was an issue during the deep freeze IIRC.

That being said, “Why not both?“ seems appropriate upon review.

CA & TX both have suffered from wholesale market design problems in the last couple decades. While CA’s problems also have been exacerbated by liberal environmental policy decisions that deliberately avoid investment in adequate generation resources and infrastructure, TX’s problems are more due to conservatives’ over reliance on spot markets that fails to incentivize investment in backup capacity. TX problems are further exacerbated by ERCOT’s relative isolation from neighboring states, which largely prevents importing backup power when needed. At least CA can import large amounts from neighbors, which it often does, masking its own capacity issues.

The problem with nuclear power plants is the large cost to build one and what to do with the spent nuclear rods. Those are used to be injected into deep wells.

So my questions for the nuclear advocates:
1. Are you OK with building one within 1 mile of your home?
2. Are you OK with injecting those energy rods in your neighborhood?

Ironically CA apparently met 103% of commercial demand with renewable energy sources on May 8th.

I think the future of nuclear will be more “ mini “ reactors. As for spent rods, why not shoot them into space on a collision course with the sun?

Texas has drainage, traffic and fire problems as well.

The truth is that PG&E and ERCOT probably both suck and are equally incompetent. It will be nice if folks showed a little bit of intellectual honesty in these sort of discussions once in a while.

Your two post so far haven’t provided anything.

So you first.

Texas gets more of its energy from renewables than California. But you are so blinded by your political ideology that you can't make any comments beyond the regular partisan talking points. Try to be better.

Your pie charts don’t show that

NIMBY is the problem with nuclear. Everyone’s for it until it shows up too close to them and then the locals lawyer up and bury the project before it gets off the ground. Investors don’t want to assume a couple million in litigation costs before they even get an interconnection agreement.

In my 14 years living in Texas we had one event that caused issues and it was a freak occurrence. Cali seems to have rolling blackouts multiple times every year all while paying crazy amounts for their energy, way more than we pay here in Texas.

So what point are you trying to make?

I am not aware of any spent nuclear fuel rods being injected into deep wells. There is a multi-billion $$ hole in the ground that the US built at Yucca Mtn NV (near Death Valley) that was supposed to store the waste but NV opposition has stymied that plan for decades. So for now it’s being stored on-site at the plants. Which plan sounds more sensible and safe?

Tell ya what. When liberals stop trying to cripple this country’s energy needs to achieve their radical utopian global warming agenda of electric vehicles, in spite of the fact we don’t have enough electric vehicles to go around, then I’ll start worrying about the whole hypocrisy thing between California and Texas. Until then, how about we focus on the moat in the eye of the liberal accusers?

The fact any liberal thinks they have a point to make in the wake of Joe Biden and company over the past year is in fact laughable to absurd levels of laughable. You people are destroying this country with the quickness, and what’s worse is you have no remorse about it either. You just double down on your constantly proven stupidity and failed ideas.
