Precisely what you are if you are only spending $3100 on a Disney trip.

Hotels - $250 (minumum) per night.
Flights - $250 per person (depending on where you live)
Food - $40 per person per day
Tickets - $150 per person per day
Souvenirs - $50 per person

For a family of four, that comes out at $6500. And that is not living high on the hog either. Disney trips regularly run $10K for a family of 4.

250 on room seems low (closer to 400)
40 per person on food seems low (breakfast 10, lunch 20, sit down dinner 40) 20-30 in snacks/drinks

In Orange Beach right now at Phoenix West II. These condos cost 525k new 6 years ago. Today they go for 1.5 million and up. Condo fees are $1000 month. Values went up so the rental rates went up with them. Just eating out cost a fortune. Picked up a shrimp poboy from Doc's. $21 for just a poboy with 6 shrimp on it. I'm not poor, but I won't be going back to Doc's again. Don't see how people with multiple kids can do it.

For sure it is low. That's my point entirely. I know we pay $350 per night and easily spend $75 per person per day on food, and some days MUCH more than that (epcot day(s) especially)

We usually end up in the $4k range for our annual SC beach week. Ocean front 3br condo for the week is the main cost. Then food, groceries, golf and booze.

Are you serious, Clark? I can easily go off by myself for 4 days and spend less than 400. Hell, my girlfriend and I can go away for 4 days and spend less than 700. This includes gas, hotel/airbnb, food, breweries, and whatever.

What in the hell are you doing?

Maybe here, not for the rest of the country.

We're bad spenders on a lot of fronts, and we spend big on vacation in the sense we do whatever we want without a budget, but I suspect we it cheaper than some more otherwise frugal folks on this board because we usually only travel in off/shoulder seasons.

Absolutely screw spending 15k to vacation in Watercolor or Seaside in the peak of Summer, it's more miserable and more expensive.

He's probably staying in city center/high end AirBNBs or hotels.

I mean, 1k may be a little high, but it's not that far off.

Even driving from like Dallas to Austin is going to cost $150+. A cheap arse Airbnb for 2-3 nights is going to be $300 minimum after fees. Meals for 3 days is $225 if done pretty cheap. That's almost $700 not doing any nice meals or a decent bar tab.

$15k for family of 5 to Hawaii for 11 days and 10 nights. This is for multiple days on Oahu, Big Island and Kauai, and includes hotels, rental cars and all flights. No food or activities.

A Holiday Inn in Monroe is going to run you at least $125/night. Some of these dudes must be terrified of Covid and not left their house in 3 years coming up with these numbers

Those days are gone.

Trip to just some shitty place like downtown mobile:

$50 round trip gas for a sedan
$400 minimum for two nights in a downtown hotel you might not get bed bugs. $600-700 if you want to guarantee.

You’ve spent 450-750 and you haven’t done anything but get there and stay there.

Going out to eat, drinks, attractions and you’ve spent over a grand easily for two nights in fricking mobile.

Different strokes. We are heavy drinkers and we like very good food.

We typically plan at least 2-3 nice dinners, and that's easily $300+ each time. Add in day drinking, after-dinner drinking, attractions, casual lunches, airfare or gas, hotel/AirBnb cost..
