Frick this heat but what is it about dudes who can't explain how to work a thermostat to their wife?

Evenings mostly in my neighbor's AC workshop/garage. Nice guy but young - early 30s - a house down comes to get 4 of us to go to his house to explain to his wife why you shouldn't set the temp to 72 when it's been reading 78 for hours and hasn't shut off since this morning.

Yes, dear..it definitely won't freeze over that way.

I usually put it on the number that I want my temperature to be and then I enjoy my house being that temperature.

But I guess there are other strategies.

Easy. Just tell them not to touch the thermostat. Period

That, and get a window unit for the rooms you want to really keep cool.

Sorry. I actually don't care about the technical part of house cooling.

I'm drunk and amazed that a dude had to get other grown arse men to tell his wife that she was going to freeze up their AC.

Damn straight. I want it to be cold enough to cut glass with my nipples.

What kind of loser needs others to explain something to his spouse? I’m a grown woman who pays my own electric bills and understands how thermostats work.

Probably a loser who's gonna be forking over a lot of money to some HVAC dude.

Guy seemed beat down... wouldn't even take the beer we were offering him.

Maybe he really just wanted them to show her how to have a screaming orgasm.

A properly sized AC unit should run all day on the hottest days of the year especially in high humidity regions. A properly tuned AC system will not freeze because the thermostat is at 72 or 52 during the hottest part of the year.

The secret to handling the family thermostat is to put the real one in a closet or hidden space, and a fake one out in the open and tell her that one is the one that controls the temperature

House is on 65.. every day, 365 days a year. If it gets hot enough for ac to kick on, it needs to run. 65, never moves.
