my ole lady is about to get a PHD but is incapable of understanding air conditioners, tire air pressure, dish washers, lint traps, dead bolts, and parking.
Parking is the worst. If there is 1 car parked in a 4 car wide driveway she will park behind it and end up having to move it later. IDK what it is with her but she's like a lemming...just parks behind people without any thought.

In our house the strategy is easy. No one touches the thermostat except me unless directed otherwise.

How about get an AC that is sized correctly and functional instead of playing games?

Gonna have to explain this one a little further please. You have your airconditioner on a timer instead of a thermostat?

You should hear the dumb excuses I use to get away from my a-hole, rat neighbor so I can do a quick bump.

Since my kids always manage to leave the sliding door to the deck open, it doesn’t even matter.

She doesn’t know how to use it and doesn’t want to
She calls me and asks me to set it with my phone. Prefer that to her messing with it.

wifi controlled smart thermostat....no matter what she does or doesn't do, i can go in and change whatever i want from my phone....she knows that....and because of that....she doesn't mess with it and sends "requests" for temp adjustments to me

Yes, dear..it definitely won't freeze over that way.
Um... why would it freeze over?

A doctorate is a Ph.D. or a PhD (Latin: philosophiae doctor).
It’s not too difficult to appear to be marginally intelligent, try.

Leave it running all day. It's preferable to be too cold in the AM than to be too warm in the PM.

We just keep ours on 71 24/7

It isn't worth the effort on this board. I have to appear marginally intelligent at work all day, it's relaxing to be a dumbass on the internet.

We both like it cold but don't like to hear or feel the AC running. So we run it full blast when we're gone and then crank it up to about 77 when we're home. Overall it stays pretty cool.

You know that is not how this works right? A coil doesn't freeze up because it is running for too long. The AC should be able to run all day without freezing up. If his coil is freezing up he has other issues.

Evenings mostly in my neighbor's AC workshop/garage. Nice guy but young - early 30s - a house down comes to get 4 of us to go to his house to explain to his wife why you shouldn't set the temp to 72 when it's been reading 78 for hours and hasn't shut off since this morning. Yes, dear..it definitely won't freeze over that way.
