Regardless of tread? Tread still at 50% and mileage 50%.

When did this become a thing?

Saying that you want to plug something over five years old might get yourself put on a list.

I think they all have a DOT # that can place it within the year it was manufactured.

I wouldn’t be plugging ANY tire on my vehicle…patch from the inside.

From the coded number on the wall of the tire.

quote:

The last four numbers represent the manufacturer's date. The first two numbers indicate the week, while the last two indicate the year. (For example, a tire with the number 2910 was manufactured in the 29th week of 2010.)

It's bs. Mexicans won't check the date code.

I stopped off at a Mavis Tire store and they wouldn't plug mine because the screw/nail in it was on the outer ridge of the tire and said it was too close to the sidewall.

They likely have a directive from the main most office and they can't make money fixing flats.

After airing it up, I found a small independent mechanic shop and had it hot patched from the inside and rolled it another 30,000 miles. $15 I think.

Exactly. Any of you that use TV campers need to check your shite.

Blowouts pulling a camper cause massive damage.

You cut the tire open and count the rings

You need new tires.

expiration on a tire is 6 years. If you are only driving in the neighborhood go for it but if you are hitting highways buy new tires.
