sounds like your coworker has no control over his family.

I have more than a few friends who are allowing this too. I've never heard them call it "co-sleeping" though. From what I can gather it's more of a lazy parenting thing. They never really put a stop to kid sleeping with them back when they should have and now it'll be WWIII. I know one who is almost 9. When do the parent's finally say no though? I mean are you really gonna let a 12 yr old sleep with you? It's just really weird IMO, but today's parents are lazy as hell.

I slept in my own crib from the time I was born. It was in my parent's bedroom for the first couple of months, but I was in my own bed. My mom says it was a bitch to get me to stay in there sometimes when I was a little older as I was fond of climbing out, but they always put me back in b/c they weren't lazy parents.

Pretty sure they are talking about the parents (likely either millenials or young gen-x), not the child. This is more on them.

One of my friends just told me a story like this a few weeks ago. They know a couple and their 16yr old son had just started sleeping in his own bed but there 12 daughter still sleeps with them.

I was like WTF run that by me again.
