Talking to a coworker at lunch and he was bitching about his 7yr old son who still sleeps in the bed with him and his wife. I was like WTF? He said it's called "co-sleeping" and that many parents allow this. He thinks the kid should sleep in his own room, but apparently mom is against it. I'm calling B.S. though and think his kid is just a pussy. Is this really a thing?

My mom said I never really slept with them other than an occasional bad dream where I would wake up from my own bed and go climb into bed with them. That shite stopped at about 5 or 6 though and maybe happened a few times a year.

I co-slept until I was 23. I don't see the big deal with it.

I'm not saying that kid will turn out gay...but I'm willing to bet that at some point in his life he will play around with a penis that isn't his

We always try to go lay in our 4 year olds bed with him if he has a bad dream or isn't feeling good, etc. Have always tried to avoid the habit of him coming in our bed because I know a lot of folks who started that crap and it's pretty tough to stop.

A lot of people allow this these days for some reason. It damn sure does not fly in my house. My 32 # miniature dachshund takes up too much room for either of the kids.

I think it will only end up being a huge disservice to the children. My nephew does the same thing.

My parents had a waterbed.

I preferred to cannonball into it, rather than just crawl in.

allowing dog in the bed is worse than allowing your damn offspring.

See, this goes to the root of today's "everyone gets a trophy" generation. Everyone bags on the teens/early 20s people for being soft and unable to handle adversity but this shite didn't just happen in a vacuum.

We MADE this generation. We rode around without bicycle helmets, suffered 30-0 defeats in little league, got our asses beat in dodge ball, etc., but then decided our kids shouldn't be exposed to these injustices.

A seven year old still sleeping in his parents' bed every night is a prime example of this. It's bad for the kid and bad for the parents. Adults need a space for themselves to retreat to- a place to be a couple. When sick or after a nightmare? Sure. Every night? frick that noise.

Total bullshite. Quit letting the kid run the house. As an adult, you should know what is best for him. This ain't it.
