Yes. It was for the university. Not sure if they had some kind of policy because it may of involved scholarships or something? Odd situation.
She also could be lying, but she was upset about it at the time so I don't think she was.

Work trip in college. Me and a buddy were tasked with pulling a trailer with a UTV on it to the trip location. Rest of co-workers/organization was in a motorcade to said location. Truck we were driving had a governor on it at 60 mph. Motorcade wanted to travel at 80 mph. When people say pedal to the metal, I know exactly how that actually feels....on I-10....for about 55 min....until the engine exploded

Some managers use this technique to make themselves look good.
They are trying to say "You need me to weed out incompetents" and what they are really saying is "I can't train good people".

I was a radio dj and we'd had done very well in book.

Hurt my back and got addicted to opiate pain killers. My needs gradually increased until I started taking them from work at the pharmacy. The drug task force intervened and I was shipped off to rehab. I lost a 200k per year job. All is well these days.

Not me, but I had a boss who tried putting a piece of wood that was about an inch and a half wide through a table saw that was about 30 years old, and to top it off the frickstick didnt even bother to use a push stick for it so in the end he got his hand mangled in the saw, it took of a bunch of fingers and sliced his hand up something fierce.
This a-hole got a months worth of workmans comp for his stupidity, he ended up being one of the worst bosses I've ever had.
The kicker in all of this was that about 6 weeks later when he was back from sitting on his arse and getting paid for it, he lectures me on the proper use of a chainsaw. Yea like im gonna take advice on how to use something that iver been using since I was about 14 from a 29 year old who put a narrow piece of wood through a table saw with no pushstick.

I sent a shipment of catalyst chemicals across the world (a country with "Stan" at the end of its name), no invoice, no labels, unstraped, 0 informant what so ever......

As a night mud engineer, made an arbitrary decision to hold a supply boat, $42,000 a day, at the dock to have tanks clean. Needless to say, it took a total of almost four days for him to return to the drilling rig. The drilling foreman was not very happy when he woke up.

I managed a restaurant in BR in 2012. We had a history of being really slow on New Year's eve because we closed at 9 on weeknights. I staffed for a regular week night. NYE was on a Wednesday and by Monday I only had 5 reso's. By Wed at 5 the restaurant was reserved full twice plus walkins. Everyone's food took 45 mins to an hour and the service staff and myself were a mess. Only time I was ever responsible for bad reviews in my 7 years with the restaurant. One of the worst nights ever
The other one wasn't really all my fault. Valve on the pipeline manifold broke and allowed 5k bbls of diesel into a reg unleaded tank. If I would have closed the valve to the ru tank on my side only 50 bbls or so would have gotten in. But pipeline took responsibility bc they were the initial screw up and paid to have the tank drained and cleaned.

I got one. When I was at LSU I had a couple different jobs, but one was a mechanic assistant/premeventive maintencae tech.
Anyway, old Tacoma comes in for a standard oil change and rotate. Not a problem, right? However, this day was the one and only time in my life I had ever smoked weed before going to work. I was high as giraffe pussy.
Pull the truck in. Lift her up. Rotate tires. Pull oil plug. Drains for a long time. Like really long time. I was just thinking it was because I was high as shite and time was moving slow. Put the plug in and fill it up with oil to spec. Check the oil and it looks high as, well, me. I'm thinking, "I'm high as shite and don't want to drain the excess oil, so It's good".
Pull the truck out, park it and turn the ticket in.
Owner comes to get the truck a while later and I had done forgot about the whole thing.
He calls the shop a half mile down the road saying the transmission was burnt up and he checked the oil and it had 5 quarts too many.

TLDR; high as a pigeon on a powerline, dropped transmission in 90's Tacoma.

On my first day at my first real job out of college, I Clogged and overflowed the one men's room toilet in the office.
I ran back into the shop bathroom looking for a plunger, no luck, so I had to go ask the boss for one.
I now manage a plumbing company, kind of ironic if you think about it.

Most expensive would have been while working at a marina when I was in college. I was driving the forklift putting a very nice and very expensive Chris Craft boat back into dry storage. I have the boat up too high and was talking to one of the other employees and not paying attention and hit the windshield on the over head beam of the bay above it. It shattered and was pretty costly to get it repaired.
This was almost a screw up by not by me at same marina. On of the other drivers launched a Mastercraft X-55 without putting the plug in. I came down to the dock and noticed she was riding a little low in the water and the life jackets were floating. Luckily I was able to get it back to the lift and get it drained and get the plug placed back in. The owner was set to pick the boat up soon, so I proceeded to do a quick wash down of the boat in order to explain the wet carpet. The owner shows up during the wash and I told him she was dusty from being in the boat house and ended up getting a pretty good tip. he never knew that his boat was about 5 minutes from sinking.
As an EHS manager now if I screw something up people die or we lose a lot of money, so thankfully I check everything twice while in the field to keep that from happening.
