Maxing out my credit cards when I was young.
I felt like a complete loser and I was.
Felt like slitting my throat and I probably should have.

2 bad you didn't write a story on it. I'd love to read or hear about how it started, middle, and the ending. I always wanted to open a bar/pub grub,
It's an all too common story in the restaurant business. It is also why banks don't like to lend money to people starting a restaurant.
Years ago I read an article in the WSJ about a guy who opened up a Subway. The gist of the story was 100. He said he spent working there 100 hours a week, for 100 weeks, and said he lost $100k.

Failed a core class in college and had to go back another year to retake it. Cost me a year of income plus a year of tuition/fees.

I expected more "having kids" than "getting married" answers.

I’m assuming those saying getting married got divorced.

yes, i would of had 25K worth of stock at .40, and would of cashed out at $5(into 401k). Why wouldn't i be upset with that
I never listen to people on that shite, and i let some moron in a suit, who years later were giving Enron as a buy to people.
For starters, you had insider information, and had you acted on it, you likely would have gone to prison. Happens quite a bit.
Secondly, being able to buy a penny stock in your 401k is incredibly rare, so it's likely you were going to take a withdrawal from your 401k to do it, which is typically frowned upon.
Lastly, Enrok was a buy for a long time. They were defrauding everyone.

I built a house in 2007, and triggered the housing market collapse when I signed the final paperwork in December.
Worked for a condo developer. While the condos were being built, I had permission from the developer (my boss), that I could do any upgrades to my condo that I wanted to - prior to closing. Spent about 20K out of pocket cash on various permanent upgrades. In a short amount of time (felt like overnight) the real estate market tanked, my income was cut by almost 70%, and i decided to walk away from the purchase. I figured I'd rather lose 20K as opposed to 300K on a condo that I could no longer afford.
I almost feel lucky that the upgrades took a little longer than expected and I didn't get married to a 300K mortgage.
