None of us are perfect, and we have all made mistakes. What is the worst financial mistake you ever made in your life? How long did it take you to recover from it?

Seriously,it was probably either investing in some dot com stocks in the late 90s or buying a new sports car.

I built a house in 2007, and triggered the housing market collapse when I signed the final paperwork in December.

Going to college before I decided on what I really wanted to do. I'll be paying on student loans forever.

Depending on when you bought it or passed on it, this could be the best and worst thing you've ever done.

Lost my arse buying a shitty vehicle, GMC Terrain

Three years and literally thousands of dollars in repairs before the motor seized and I had to sell it for salvage

I think Gap Years (taking a year between senior year of high school and beginning college to figure shite out) should be encouraged more.

This. I got a good degree with them at least, and paid them off after 5 years.

But that financial decision is the only real do-over I'd like.

Back in 2009 an atm on the strip in Tuscaloosa was giving out double withdrawals, so of course I went and withdrew the 1500 dollars my parents had just deposited for rent and got 3000. Had one helluva blow out but regions bank wanted their money back. To be 21 and dumb again

Absolutely. Financial aid should allow for a gap year, for starters. Unfortunately, most packages are available only if you start right away.
