We just send a picture of our kids.
We don't post their (or our) pictures on social media, so friends that are on it will not be "up to date" on how they look day to day/month to month, so they tend to be appreciative.
I like the family photos because my daughter has friends that have MILFS (and my wife has friends that are MILFS)

We've gotten some that summarize the sender's family's entire year with accomplishments and vacations listed.

tbh, if I had a beautiful new baby, I'd probably send cards to everyone I knew for his first Christmas. I don't know if I'd still have the same feelings by the time the kid was 15 though.

Now with internet and cell phone the cards are dated. There was a time where it was a way to see family members in other places growth and such. How kids look now etc.

We make portrait cards because he wants to. I’d never done portrait cards before him. Probably especially trashy to do them since we aren’t married.
I like seeing the pics of my family & friends, and it’s fun to get non-bill mail. We have a spot where we hang them as we receive them, then toss after Christmas. NBD.

Usually to let friends and relatives see how the kids grow.I prefer them to the bulk cards with just a signature from the old times.
