What's the point of Vehicle Registration Renewal for a 4 wheeler?

Its not street legal regardless. Insurance is not mandatory but definitely optional for the owner. What the heck is this fee for and downside of not paying it?

It's a money racket. Some public state parks that allow 4 wheelers require a registration to get a park pass. That's all I got.

I've never bothered to register any of mine.
One less piece of my own property I don't have to ask the government permission to use.

so our state government can collect more income and find something ridiculous to spend the money on

If you don't take it on public land, it's not necessary.

I have a few. None are registered.
I see no point other than money and to give a game warden a reason to write a ticket.

You will give them your hard-earned money, and you will like it

Same here. And if you have insurance, they still pay if it's stolen regardless of whether it was registered or not.

I dont turkey hunt but there are a couple of wardens that have my place staked out. I run feeders all year.
I have them on camera over a dozen times in the last 2 weeks. A couple of times they come in way before daylight and will stay there for a couple of hours.

Bastards just KNOW they gonna catch someone.

Bought mine out of state with no taxes. Never titled it in home state.
Once had an ATV salesperson tell me that it was necessary to title it in case it gets stolen, so the state has a record of it. I said: “ I have the VIN, that’s all they need to log a stolen case”. He quickly changed the subject.

How does that work?

money grab. Just like inspection stickers and the majority of licenses required for professionals in this state.

Dealership does not charge you taxes because you are out of state. Dealers near the border may handle neighboring state taxes.
The expectation is that you will pay your state taxes when you title the vehicle.

If you are just going to pull wheelies on the highway no sticker will do you any good.

It's a scam for $ just like many of the things needing "renewal".

I reside in TX. Bought in LA and TN, did not pay sales tax. Did not title the vehicles.
TX does not have registration sticker on the ATV/UTV.
