Two wolf-husky hybrids. Belonged to my neighbors when I was a kid. They were big enough that they could have easily jumped their chain link fence. They would go crazy when I would mow the lawn and I'd always get nervous cutting up against our fence line.

We have a hybrid wolf. I had to break a pool stick over his head to keep him from getting our little house dog one night. He just looked at me like "are you kidding me"
Had one get in the doggy door of my ex S/O's parents. Did over 6,000 dollars in damage, ate three rare birds and cleaned out the deep freeze. I've never seen a house in that bad of shape.

My best friend's brother had a blue pit that was about 100lbs. He tried to train it to be a hog dog, but the dog was too nuts to control. He ended up shooting him after he got in a fight and killed three other dogs in one fight (two were pits).
It was weird because he lived with us and our dogs until he was like a year old, and he was fine the entire time. Just went ape shite after we gave him back to his bro
Maybe the dog picked up bad vibes from the brother because he was really fricked up when he came back from Afghanistan

I didn't say he was. I thought having that dog was ignorant as did the rest of the family but he's pretty well off and paranoid. His house is in the middle of nowhere on a private road and was broken into twice while he was at work so he bought the dog for that reason. I didn't go to his house for the 5 or 6 years he had that stupid arse dog because I was scared to death of it. He couldn't even have UPS deliver shite there.
Damn, that's a really high threshold for getting rid of a problem dog.

Neopolitan Mastiff. I was a kid and the owner told me he liked it when you stared him in the eyes. I got down and did it and he started growling. I jumped up and took off running.

I have 3 Dogos. They can be intimidating to look at, and watch. Purpose bred dogs for hunting/protection, but at the same time were bred to be good with their family. They are pack hunters unlike pits. The biggest thing that sticks out with me is how amazingly athletic they are. They move and run more like a big cat rather than a dog. OP is correct though. They were bred to hunt wild hogs, cougar, and bear. Basically a designer dog that isn't froo-froo.
My youngest male at about 6mos old, and that is a 48 inch tall fence.
He's now 10mos old and weighs in at 96lbs.

Where do you get your dogos? I played with one at a dog park a few years ago and have been wanting one ever since.

My neighbor's looked exactly like him, but he was about 2 years old. Just the amount of musculature is insane. Feels like that animal could tackle a horse.

Dogo Argentino and a malinois that basically had to always be muzzled or restrained. Was a great bite dog, you just couldn't interact with the animal which sucked.

Side note..
A veterinarian called in to ol' Paul Harvey's show when the topic was dogs attacking and killing children. Of course there was a recent happening of just such a case in the news.
Per the vet, the most effective countermeasure at your disposal when being attacked by a vicious dog -assuming you're not armed - is to forcefully insert a finger into the dog's rectum.
..and that's the rest of the story.

There are basically two options in that kind of a situation, and both require you to focus on one dog at a time.
A) When the dog attempts to bite, protect yourself with your forearm, even with no sleeve. As he is biting down, don't wait, go on the offensive. Instead of simply holding your arm up, and waiting on him to bite, shove your arm as far back as you can in his mouth, similar-esqu to a horse's bit. There are 3 advantages when doing this.
1) In the back of the mouth they have molars, which are not designed to slice or pierce flesh like the front teeth.
2) The next advantage is you can then somewhat control him. At least, more than before. Allowing for greater leverage when trying to move him into a new position. Your arm can somewhat act as a weak fulcrum.
3) Lastly, if your arm is shoved as far back as it physically can be, the dog can't apply near the pressure he would normally generate. No pressure = no bite. Im this scenario your shoving of the arm against the jaw and teeth is more pressure than his bite force can achieve. You can then use your free hand to go on the offensive. One word of warning, watch our for their feet. They will attempt to disembowl you, like a cat would, if on their backs.
B) If the dog jumps on you, or if you can simply grab hold of him when he is in mid lunge/standing on the ground attempting to bite you. Take his paws and pull/push them apart, as far as you can. Unless the dog is simply too heavy, or too strong, for you to control the feet and legs before putting them in the weakened position. If either if these is the case, uou have the strength of a little girl, and probably wouldn't be able to do this next part anyway. Regardless, catching the paws in midair is the easiest way to gain the leverage necessary to accomplish the task ahead.
After the chest and leg muscles have developed past the puppy stage. Their legs aren't designed to go straight out to the sides. When forced beyond a certain point, which at best is somewhere around 40° from normal, severe injury occurs. The sinews and muscles, in that part of the body, have a main purpose of aiding forward movement. As such, they cannot apply a ton of pressure when the legs are forcibly separated. They are only strong enough for incidental separations, which dogs normally disengage from easily.
With enough force applied to the legs in an outward motion, thus moving the legs past the 30°- 40° barrier, you can either:
1) split the breast bone,
2) dislocate the legs,
3) break the legs,
4) maim the joints,
5) tear the deltoid, tricep, extensor, ulnar carpal, or deep pectoral muscle.
In all 5 scenarios, the dog is out of the fight. Unless he is the most stubborn bastard on he planet.
There are obviously better ways, in a normal situation, to deal with attacking dogs. I was trying to give options for when they attack without warning or provocation, such your situtation, when a surprise attack leaves you defenseless by normal tactics.

I got my oldest two from my cousin who breeds them. The young male pictured was given to me as a puppy when he was about 8 weeks old.
The breeder paid to have the BAER testing done on all of the pups in the litter. His test came up inconclusive so he didn't want to take the chance of selling a potentially deaf dog, and was gonna euthanize him. Long story short I ended up with him.
His hearing is fine, and going to be an awesome dog. He was never registered due to the breeder.

Me too.
Surprise finger in your butt = abandon ship no matter how pissed off you are.
I see my dog's reaction when the vet takes his temperature, poor fella.
