1. F16's taking off over my head

2. A10's circling our base, right over my tent at what seemed like 100 feet.

IEDs. Pretty close to deaf because of them.

And you're right LS, those A10's are some loud bastards overhead.

WWE pyro in the Cajundome. I was sitting right on the entrance aisle near the ramp and when that opening Monday Night RAW pyro went off, especially in that dome, it was like cannons going off in my ears. Jericho's started the hell out of my because they came out of nowhere and were LOUD.

For me it's a top fuel dragster.

This is the answer. If you've not been to a race then you may have a different answer. The first time I heard one I was standing in line for a beer without ear plugs. I near shite myself. It's also a prolonged roar.

Any military guys on here, navy especially, I assume cannons from a battleship must be another shite yourself moment.

Better yet any guys who've experienced both care to educate me on the comparison?

5' away from bleeding off a section of pipe offshore. Pipe at 1100# through a 1" port. Sounded like a jet engine even with ear plugs.

I have done drag racing many many times and would agree on drags. However I heard a nitrogen accumulater explode after being over charged and my ears were bleeding.

Hard to say what is louder. I also heard the space shuttle break the sound barrier when it landed at Miramar and both of the above were louder.

My wife when I came home at 5am after a night of drinking...

Naw, I was sitting on the Tarmac at KNEW when a Citation X was doing an engine run up. Was a few feet away.

I was in my house when it was directly hit by lightning, I thought a jumbo jet was crashing through the roof.

Had several of these fired off within about 10 yards of me or less, including the one I shot myself during Desert Storm. Our mission that night was to blowup several tanks and vehicles left behind by Iraqi troops. Ear plugs fell out at some point...ears rang for several days.

Several things..one was a 40mm grenade "dummy round" being discharged in my backyard. People on my street were talking about hearing a very loud noise the next couple of days.

Aerial rocket fireworks with real dynamite. These are long gone but they used to shoot them off on holiday fireworks shows in my mom's rural hometown. Goddamn those things were loud!!

Sonic blast- likely from a T-38 talon from Columbus AFB over north MS.

10 gauge shotgun blast

Transformer explosion

Fighter jets at various airshows. When I was a kid 3 F-4 phantoms did a flyover at a game at Davis-Wade, low and in full afterburner. Scared folks pretty good.
