What unit were you with? I was T 5/11.

I'll never forget a charge 8 read bag being fired. Once while in Iraq we had to do a shift trails and the gun next to us fired in our direction. We were about 100 meters in front. It was necessarily the sound but it felt like your insides were being squished, hurt so bad!

My uncle was shooting my S&W 15-22 a few years ago and I was standing next to him. It fired out of battery and I thought my ear drum exploded. Neither one of us had on hearing protection because it was only a .22 that we were shooting and they aren't loud at all. My ears still rings to this day from this incident. I always wear hearing protection now regardless of what we're shooting.

Top fuel dragsters will definitely snap you to attention if you aren't paying attention. I heard thunder from lightning that hit about 100 yards away yesterday, and it wasn't that loud. Space shuttle wins for me. A 45 is the only thing that has actually been painful to my ears.

I regularly listen to music in my truck that makes my ears ring for a while after

My Dad and I were fishing in Bayou Penchant years ago and what I can only describe as an explosion or sonic boom happened what seemed like directly over our heads. Could literally feel my insides vibrating and the "shock wave" pushed the water around in the canal we were in. We never saw anything that this could have been associated with.. Not a jet, not a fireball, not smoke. To this day, I have no idea. Maybe a meteor that we couldn't see because it was a bright day? No clue... May have been aliens.

2700 psi steam chiller exploded standing 1' away. Blew me off my feet and knocked me back about 12'. Spent about 4 hours in the operating room, having them pick rust pieces out of me. Yes, lost about half my hearing.

I've stood on a flight line where F-15s, F-16s, and F-22s were all roaring within yards of my location.

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.-Gersh Kuntzman

Obviously the loudest thing ever is an AR-15...

I was on a jet boat that blew up. But it wasn't ridiculously loud.
