Random, poorly aimed mortar rounds

Fire for effect on a 60mm mortar when your ear pro falls out.

Thought I went deaf while bracing the bipods. Oh well, rounds on target.

Top fuel or 40 yards directly down range from a hunting rifle. Amazing at how loud a high powered rifle is when it is aimed directly at you.

Had lightning strike a tree about 30 feet from me while I was in a drink hut on a golf course taking shelter from the rain. That thunder was so loud my ears were ringing for like 6 hours. I was like 12 and my mom made me go to the ENT

Also, had the pleasure of being on an aircraft carrier when a jet took off. That was not quiet, but we had headphones to protect us.

Loudest noise I ever heard.... I working under a metal structure (a vent boom for a production platform) lightning hit it while I was standing under it. It was so loud and so bright that me and my helper were disoriented for 5-10 minutes. Scariest moment of my life as well.

That's right up there with the explosions from incoming mortar fire.

I felt one of these from a few blocks away once and thought it was an earthquake

Sidenote: I've still never experienced an earthquake.

Two that I recall:

.45 pistol from about 3 feet away.

Bolt of lightning hit our pecan tree from about 15 yards away.

When I was in the Air Force in Korea, a fuel storage tank with 440,000 gallons of JP-4 went ka-boom, everyone thought we were under attack.
