The engine of a Top Fuel dragster generates around 150 dB[2] of sound at full throttle, enough to cause physical pain or even permanent damage. A sound that intense is not just heard, but also felt as pounding vibrations all over one's body, leading many to compare the experience of watching a Top Fuel dragster make a pass to 'feeling as though the entire drag strip is being bombed.' Before a run, race announcers usually advise spectators to cover or plug their ears. Ear plugs and even earmuffs are often handed out to fans at the entrance of a Top Fuel event.

Had lightening strike about 20 feet from the house when me and my brother were hanging out on the patio. I literally thought I had died.

Apollo rocket engine test at Stennis Space Center.
The record for the loudest test ever conducted at Stennis still belongs to the Saturn V rocket’s first-stage, which featured five engines capable of generating 7.5 million pounds of thrust and powered NASA’s Apollo program to the moon. That test rang in at 204 decibles.

Went to the Formula 1 race in Austin back when the cars had the 2.4L V8s that revved to 18,000 rpm.
Standing against the fence at the exit to a slow corner with those cars coming out at full throttle in 2nd and 3rd gear is something I will NEVER forget.
My shirt was vibrating, my hair was vibrating, the air itself was vibrating. It felt like I was standing on a giant cell phone that was on silent. Uncovering my ears simply wasn't an option.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
