Wife and I went on our 10 year wedding anniversary trip this past week. We were supposed to go from Colorado Springs to Denton, TX yesterday. I ended up asking if she would rather drive straight home, she didnt mind. That said, I ended up driving 1,018 miles spanning about 16 hours.

that was a trap/mistake

It means the wife is over being stuck in the car all fricking day, but you have to make it pay off by getting somewhere great at the end.
Otherwise, all she will remember is that you tortured and bored the shite out of her.

Washington DC to Houston about ten years ago. Apparently it is around 1,400 miles. I was exhausted by the time I reached Texarkana but, stupidly, I kept going. My vision was literally foggy I arrived.
Dumb decision.

I’ve never done 1000 miles in a day but have 900 several times.

Also my dad and I once did a drive that was probably 850 miles or so but due to traffic, car accidents, etc it took 16 hours and we got to the hotel around 1 AM. That was the worst drive just because stop and go is so much more tedious than a smooth 75-80 mph.

Well my average is like 310 yards so if I pull driver on ~12 holes that’s around 2.1 miles.

2 drives come to mind and they're both fairly close in mileage.

Key West FL to Lafayette, left at 4:30am and were back at the house ~10pm, 1135 miles.

Lafayette to Denver, CO. We were supposed to split that one up but didn't really want to spend the $$ for a hotel. Left Lafayette at noon, drove up until about 1am, slept in the truck for ~2 hours just shy of Amarillo for a short break and hit the road again. Were able to check into our AirBnb, drop our bags, and meet some family for lunch in Denver. That one shows 1180 miles.

FT Lauderdale to north of DC. Was absolutely dead after that. Used to drive cars for snowbirds while working at an airline.

South Bend to Miami. It's about 1350 miles or so, took about 20 hours. A drove it back a week later. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I drove from my house to St Louis and back to pick up my mother and her dogs from her house there and bring her to her house here. It was just under 24 hours and about 1350 miles. I was falling asleep on the 55 bridge. It was a poor choice.

2350 miles in 26 hours going from San Jose to Clinton when they shut everything down for covid.

I did that run 6 or 7 times between 16 and late 22.

Last year I went on a three and a half week aimless road trip starting at home and going thru Texas then up to Colorado, over to Arizona, made a big loop clockwise around the West. Hit every state West of the Mississippi except Minnesota and Wisconsin.

I've driven for over 24 hours straight going from Baton Rouge to Los Angeles. I don't think one can quite appreciate just how big Texas is until you actually drive across it. Cross the Louisiana/Texas state line in the early evening and then by morning when the sun is coming up you're still in Texas and still a few hours to go until finally hitting NM
