Please tell her that there’s no “the” in front of Bywater.

Well I do indeed live in Nola, and my "bitching" about them is more taking a shot at their persona rather than wanting them to leave the city.

I'm all for gentrification.

I hear ya.

I don't like manbuns, green hair or men in maxi-skirts either.

Yes, another hipster comment. This Instagram page for Hank's Supermarket pretty much sums up the Bywater. It's hilarious, frightening, enlightening, & damn scary all at the same time.

This is useful if you want to research neighborhood crime and draw your own conclusions:

If I were her, I'd start somewhere else. She wont have any time to enjoy much of the city in her 1st year. She can always move there.

Not a hipster hangout that I’m aware of

Lol what?

That's where they let their pale tattoo laden skin burn to a crisp whilst in their European style speedos.

Hipster as hell. Parleaux is an amazing brewery, so it has that going for it.

There’s a little bbq joint out there that’s fantastic. Forgot the name of it though.

That place literally called "The Joint".

Please tell her, also, that we once called it, simply, downtown as opposed to uptown. Or, sometimes simply called it upper ninth ward.

Yeah we know. Everyone is going to get raped and shot. That’s the reason young people have been moving there from all over the country over the last 10 years

And they’ve nearly all been robbed raped and/or murdered.

I would rather be around hipsters than rednecks

Usually hipsters and rednecks are good people. Different but usually decent productive citizens and that’s all you can ask.

The drifter hotel

I went over jazz fest there were some topless gals, solid OT 5’s, just laying it all out.

I have been living in the Bywater most of my life, and have actually been living on N Rampart for the past 6 years. She'll be fine. Lots of good bars, restaurants and music clubs. I have never been a victim of a crime, other than one night when I forgot to lock my car, someone rummaged through it.

As someone born and raised in and around NOLA, i object.

For as long as i can remember, it was always ‘The Bywater’.. and i know it’s come a long way, but The Bywater was the only place i’ve ever been a victim of crime of any sort- Mardi Gras 1993 i was staying at a buddy’s house there, my car was broken into and my new car stereo/CD player was stolen... pissed me off as a broke college student.. All that said, i’ve heard good things about it these days.

You’re 100% wrong. Do a little research and educate yourself
