Our late Maltipoo was a great dog. Chill, but loved to play as well. Would run and jump into my arms when I got home in the evening. My wife would hold him like a baby and scratch his stomach til he fell asleep in her arms. Miss him terribly.

Blue Heeler. I could take her anywhere off leash. She would not leave my side. She knew over 70 commands. When I laid down, she would crawl up beside me and lay her head on my chest until I went to sleep. She was my shadow. Damn, I miss that dog.

What's the Best Breed of Dog You've Owned?
They are wonderful with kids. Great house dogs. No shedding. Incredibly expressive faces. When they are happy or pleased with themselves they look like they're laughing.

Lab rotty mix. That boy was smarter than several people I've encountered. Extremely loyal and gentle with almost everyone, but menacing to a few folks who were not good people. He knew, we knew, they knew.
When he'd bark in the house, I'd say "inside voice" and he'd either stop or do this hilarious muted bark. I had him trained for ridiculously awesome and impractical tricks. He'd stand over me and growl while I slept when I was hungover if someone tried to wake me up. Bark at someone or something on command. He'd take a treat or something out of your hand as slow as dogly possible if I told him to be gentle. Taught him that in a few days for when my nieces would want to feed him. Amazing guy.

I grew up with Labrador Retrievers all of my life. I will never not own a Lab. Marley and Me made me sob like an unstable emotional mess when I watched it. My wife and I's first child before our first child was a yellow Lab named Chandler because his litter brother was named Joey. We had him for almost 14 years and he was the best dog ever.
We are such huge dog lovers that we tried having 2 other dogs (females) at once between Chandler and our new yellow lab Carter (named after Gary) and we sadly failed. We adopted a German Shepherd/Husky mix (Isabelle) at almost 2 that was extremely smart that we loved and she loved us, mostly me but she was stubborn and took no shite from any other dog but her and Chandler got along well. When we put Chandler to sleep, we adopted a Black Lab/German Shepherd mix (Jasmine) by then Izzy was 8 so we figured Izzy would be a good big sister and help keep Jasmine in line. Jasmine was very smart but we found out very territorial if she wasn't in play mode playing ball with other dogs and she would jump on our autistic son during his meltdowns. This went on well for over 2 years until we found our family cat mauled and dead in the living room. My wife and I thought of getting rid of one them but we didn't know who killed him. We thought Izzy because she would always chase him around the house and get a little too rough. Well, a month later a piece of food fell on the floor and all of a sudden, the 2 bitches barked and fought over it. I had to keep them separated for a month and then they seemed okay for a few months but then they brawled again but this time Izzy growled first then Jasmine had Isabelle pinned down so we figured Izzy killed the cat. We sadly rehomed Izzy and it was the biggest mistake we ever made with a pet and we regret it to this day. We moved to Florida a year later, stayed with my parents while we were house shopping and then I get phone call a few months later that Jasmine started attacking my parents innocent yellow lab and ripped a good chunk of out the side of her out of nowhere. We had to put Jasmine down. We decided to only have a purebred Lab from here on and maybe down the road we will get an American Shepherd for a little dog.

Our wiener dog was awesome. Super smart and would freak out when you jumped in the pool. Poor dog would jump in thinking something was wrong and circle over you. Poor dog about died when I was trying out some dive gear. She thought she weighed 100 pounds instead of 8.

Bloodhound by far . He was gentle with the kids and just slept mostly. He left one day walking down our driveway and we never saw him again. All the neighbors knew him and loved him . We think someone picked him up.

Brittany Spaniels are my favorite. High energy dogs so they need lots of exercise. Very fun

Rescue dog that has a lot of Jaqd terrier in him. He can hear shite like Superman. Playful but very protective. Loves chasing squirrels in the backyard. He looks like a mini rot.

Had a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix and a Terrier in the past. The two sweetest dogs in the world and never had a complaint with them.
This thread is a big help too cuz I'm looking to get a new dog now as well, and I don't know what kind of breed I was looking to get.

I loved my past boxers. But the best, most well behaved, loyal, and intelligent dog I've owned is my current German Shepherd mix rescue.

Pug beagle mix. Puggle. I am on my second one. Smart, spunky, and loyal.

Torn between the Border Collie or Lab. Both are great fun loving dogs.

Dobie, was the best dog ever with our infant/toddler son.

First of all, you adopt a shep/ husky mix when you have a cat and expect them to behave like humans would with it?
Then you get a lab mix that can be aggressive toward other dogs (huskies are not) and abandon the 8 year old husky/shep that wasn’t the territorial one? Jeez man
