LA is shite. But I get the whole New York thing . Living near Central Park and having access to all the restaurants and museums and walking 6/7 miles a day would be heaven for me.

Been to both and can’t stand being in either city for more than 2-3 days.

I'd have to be able to afford to not drive.

Give me San Diego anyday as far as SoCal. And everywhere north of SF twice a day.

i notice significantly fewer obese people i love the mta in nyc though. i see how it'd be problematic and less practical down south, but still enjoy while visiting.

NYC? Literally any activity you can think of doing within walking distance of where you are or a subway stop.

Los Angeles: perfect weather (high 50’s-low 80’s) all year around.

It’s one thing to say these places are overrated, over-priced, or overcrowded, but they are that way for a reason. Each city has some pretty significant advantages over most other cities.

This will be a fun thread where people who live in LA will judge each city and pretend like they are too good to live there because muh ‘murica.

Even though the place they live sucks by all objective measurements.

The weather is perfect like 99 percent of the time in LA so that’s probably a solid reason

I'd call that good but not great - mainly because you don't have enough time to hit all of them.

translation for Kafka's purposes(because Steve McQueen said that after he conquered the big cities) :

I would rather sit on the sidelines than play in the big game.

The bleachers hold a lot of people. The field not so much. There's nothing wrong with either side unless one side bitches about or tries to denigrate the other.

As mentioned, if you're living in the heart of LA, frick all of that. If you've got a gig in Seal Beach or Santa Barbara or any number of other cool beach towns, hell yes sign me up!

I do agree about the San Diego >>> LA comment, too. More affordable, more conservative (within reason for California) with all of the military and port/shipping industry, and none of the LA traffic nightmare.

i went to San Diego in 2016 and it was amazing

i've been to LA and it was cool. i probably would get utterly tired of all the fake arse people living their dreams. i didn't have to deal with traffic but i hate it so i'd probably grow to hate LA

i was in NYC about 2 months ago and i was claustrophobic a couple days in. just way too many people EVERYWHERE you go

also NYC has some of the worst weather in the US

I've visited both numerous times. Neat vacations but I'd never see myself living there.
