Me too. When I get back from being downtown, the UES feels like a suburb in comparison.

fewer obese people
L.A. is the fittest city on the planet. Recently spent a week there and saw fewer fat people the entire time than I see on any random day before 9:00 a.m. in the south. SoCal has a lot to offer, but the traffic is enough to make you want to suck the bullets out of a pistol.

You realize that your experience visiting there is very different then the experience of people who live there, right?
My experience with major cities is that everyone has their own routine. These cities really can feel like small little communities. In my last neighborhood, I knew the quickie mart owner's whole family, my dry cleaner's whole family, I was on first name basis with the grocery store clerks, etc.

I live in Orange County and work in LA. Try again. If I can drive it everyday, I'm sure anyone can do it for a day of vacation.
If you're 21, I guess WeHo is ok. Hollywood is actually a shite hole ... And sure... You can drive up to Beverly Hills and Brentwood for a day ... But good luck affording to live there. And why the hell would you want to? The 405 nearing the 101 is such a cluster frick of traffic.

The fishing in the Los Angeles river is amazing.

I don’t know how people live in NYC. It’s way too busy and old.

NYC? Literally any activity you can think of doing within walking distance of where you are or a subway stop.
Hunting, cliff diving, bull riding, driving down a dirt road in a cornfield with a 6 pack on my tailgate.... ..yeah didn't think so broseph.
I actually enjoyed NYC. Would like to experience life there. Cant say if I'd love it or hate it at the end of the day, but I'd give it a shot. Would take some money though.
Never been to LA. I actually don't know of anything in LA I really want to see. But the surrounding area and the climate in general is enough for me to give it a shot.

LA sucks was in traffic for a few years switched to uniform patrol. Traffic in a small town like BR you get a few bad days. LA it is rocking no matter what shift you get put on.
Don’t get me started about being called into work the day AC Cowlings was driving OJ around like a parade. That still gets me fuming mad wife knew not to answer the phone right before my vacation time. I had 4 freaking hours before el vacation and wife answers phone oh he is right here.

Still to this day pissed off about this.
Why do wives do stupid things.
LA, at first it took awhile to adjust.
Weather is nice.
You have bad areas, middle class areas, and very wealthy areas.
You can pick some great thing and bad thing about living there.
I loved the weathe, being not far from the desert to ride dirt bikes, and cruising on the pacific coast Hwy.

Santa Barbara’s is not LA. It’s almost 100 miles away.
You may be thinking is Santa Monica.

LA is meh. NYC is pretty cool and I wouldn't mind visiting more often if I could afford it.

So much hate for NYC I this thread
It’s a great place to live, but we are moving soon. We have 2 kids and will be able to cut our expenses by a little over 100K when we move.

Endless entertainment and dining. If you are bored there something is wrong with you.
I only get a little bored during the day here because I work from home. I go jump in the ocean for a swim everyday around 2 or 3 then head to the pier for a drink to break up my day.
But you're correct. In the past week I have been to a comedy showcase, a few concerts, Universal Studios, and the Dodgers vs Astros. This week a few more concerts coming up as well so far and I am sure we will fill in the other days with something. Always something to see or do here.

Depending on career field or whatever dream your chasing, I imagine people move there for the opportunities. More choices

Yea during the week I stay in my "bubble" here which consists of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Maybe venture to Redondo and Torrance if I have to. Have met and know plenty of people here that I see regularly out and about and I don't have to fight traffic at all. It's pretty nice and not at all how I imagined it would be living here which tells me a lot of people in this thread dismissing it also have no idea how it truly can be.
