Tom Petty
This makes me sad.
9 years ago, my wife and I were in London. We had rented a flat for a week a few blocks north of Hyde Park / Marble Arch.
Petty played a concert there on July 9th, but we had a return flight out of Heathrow very early the next morning. I really wanted to attend the concert, but I had my 85-year-old mother with me. Plus, I had seen him a couple of times before back home. I chose the pragmatic approach.
My wife and I were out for a walk in the park that afternoon. We could hear Stevie Nicks (the opening act) singing behind the barrier. There were hundreds of people streaming out of the Marble Arch tube station that is right on the northeast corner of the park.
It was a very warm day by London standards and our flat had no air conditioning. We slept with the windows open, and I could hear Tom's music through the window.
Sadly, he passed 3 months later. One of the biggest ragrets of my life.
