re: What's everyone's opinion on Garth Brooks (as a person / not an artist)?

He seems like a genuinely good person.
His music is awesome.
He may be the corniest/cringiest person alive. Don’t get me wrong, it seems good natured. But man it just feels so fake sometimes, and if it’s real then it’s scarily corny.

I don’t care for Garth or his wife Trisha. Can’t stand her on Foodnetwork either.

I think he is one of the cringiest, self absorbed over the top artist out there. He obviously has talent and a huge fan base but he just seems so fake to me.

I wish they'd find a new song for Tiger Stadium.
About 95% of my knowledge of Brooks. But he didn't write the song. Could ditch his version and replace with with another artist.
I think he played at Biden's inauguration. Hard pass.

I have no opinion on him as a man. I love his music and the nostalgia his performances produce. I still listen to his songs and I still see him live in concert. I don’t give a shite about who he votes for or what he eats for dinner with his wife.

He’s the reason for the current state of country music. Personally…that’s about it for me. I hope Trisha Yearwood eats him out of house and home.

The 3 times I met him, he was just an ordinary dude queued in line with me dropping off packages at mailbox etc.
He did have a bodyguard, which made me jealous. I would have liked a bodyguard. I never tried to speak with him other than hello. We were the only people in there twice, and a couple of people the other time were in the Mailboxes Etc. His place was right down the road from mine, so it wasn’t outrageous to run into him running errands.
I remember mentioning that I’d seen him in the store several times to the owner of M Etc. Dude sends out tons of packages according to the owner of the store. CSB

Campaigned against second hand CD sales. Cause he wasn't rich enough.
Would not license to Spotify--said his albums were meant to be listened to as a whole. Which is inconsistent with releasing a greatest hits record, and his exclusive streaming contract with Amazon.
Thought he was somebody big enough to try the "Chris Gaines" thing.
I find him to be a fake and insincere douche. Some of the songs are fine but he's not a particularly good singer.

Played my club in September of 1989. Super nice guy. Was apologizing for not selling out the club. Had a return date for March 1990 for 5,000. He had exploded by then but honored all his existing gigs on the books. Never forgot who his friends were on the way up.

Well, this is true of a LOT of artists.
If it’s good, it’s good.

Damn I forgot about that stunt with the San Diego Padres.
Late 90s Garth was doing movie songs (Frequency), Chris Gaines, and minor league baseball publicity stunts. He was a man who felt his status slipping away and making an arse of himself trying to desperately cling to it. No wonder he disappeared for 15 years.

Troyal Garth Brooks is a disgrace to Oklahoma country music artists. Hell, he’s not even legit country.
