I still have an irrational fear of getting tangled up in seaweed and drowning. Just being around the stuff weirds me out. I was a D1 swimmer.

Haha. Yeah I’m a strong swimmer and lake “seaweed” freaks me out. Worse than the Gulf for some reason. My kids’ float went out beyond the swimming area lake the other day. I ducked under and swam out to get it. Felt slimy seaweed. Turned back. Drove all the way around the lake and waited for it to come ashore.

Flying.

Used to love it but as I've gotten older, it terrifies me. I just think the plane will fall out the sky randomly the entire flight.

Add in the ppl on the plane and at the airport I'd rather not deal with it at all.

Not really a fear, but I used to have stress dreams about family members who would never commit a crime and who would get absolutely run over in prison getting accused of some crime they didn't commit and going to prison.

Water bugs aka Louisiana cockroaches.

I have trauma because my mom didn't like to kill them growing up they would be chilling on my wooden bed frame at night, I would put my shoes on in the morning and squash them because they were in the toe and waking up in the middle of the night with excruciating thirst was the thing of nightmares. I would have to flip the light on in the kitchen and watch those skateboards fly across the floor, run up the walls, fly clumsily right at me and my favorite was opening the cabinet to get a glass and they're all in there.

To this day I hate those things. I could walk into a room filled with scorpions, snakes and wasps and not have the same reaction I do to opening a door and seeing just one of those mother frickers in the room.

I become absolutely inconsolable if I am in a boat and there is lightning in the area...and in the area could mean 10 miles away. I think there is something about the complete and total lack of control over the situation that gets to me. I love to fish in the gulf, which is something that is made more enjoyable by fishing with your buddies. And my buddies are the last ones I want to see me acting like an absolute toddler.

Mine mostly involve the fear of gross bodily harm to myself or loved ones.

The exact moment when you’re stepping into or out of an elevator. If it should malfunction at that exact moment, you’re toast.

Standing directly under a rolled up garage or bay door. If mechanisms keeping it up fail it could roll down and crush you.

Walking down a city street when a chunk of building facade or maybe a window AC could come loose and fall on you.

Driving or walking under trees (especially if it’s breezy) and a tree or tree limb could fall on you or your car.

All very final destination-esque. I think those movies gave people my age crazy anxiety.

I’ve stubbled across royal family stuff from 1500-1700’s on YouTube.
I can’t imagine getting the ax to the neck.

Tree limbs. When I'm cutting grass I am really bothered cutting underneath large, low hanging tree limbs

I think about this with my kids way too much. My parents just let me roam the neighborhood all day with no issue and I worry about my kids in Target if they're 20 ft from me

I am working on it.

Court houses trigger my PTSD

Bid a public works courthouse renovation project recently and like clock work my anxiety peaks every time I walked up the stairs through the front door
