The other eight were called "President of the United States in Congress Assembled". I never knew this and your post forced me to look it up. Thanks

Well I think your math may be a little bit off

but then this should be in the thread Give an example from what people think is history that proves they're incredibly stupid

And it's often presented as if it was just a whole lot to do about nothing. There was segregating busing
the Rosa Park aspect may have been a stunt but what it was highlighting was very real

Thats the factual history

There is a reason why they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Of course it was a photo op. A lot of people would not have understood the absurdity of segregation without seeing the pictures and videos.

Same thing happens today. People get way more worked up about videos they see on Tik/Tok vs written stories.

today people have to watch videos to understand the absurdity of desegregation on public transportation.

It’s a neat little nugget.. and true.

quote:

“ George Washington is the first president under the modern U.S. Constitution, taking office on April 30, 1789. However, eight men held the title of "President of the United States in Congress Assembled" before him, starting with John Hanson in 1781, under the Articles of Confederation.

True Nuff

Pretty sure most every war in human history going back to cavemen is about

Money
Power
Resources

To be fair all 3 probably fall back on pussy. Without pussy men would still be in caves scratching their balls and drawing on the cave walls while drinking beers with other cavemen. Time outside th cave was spent huntin and fishin.

Middle East is not about Iran / Ayatollah
It did not start with Carter and the hostages

It started over a century ago and it was ALL about oil. Persian Empire was probably one of the Top 5 to Top 10 empires in human history and probably spanned at least 3,000 years.

Then along came Standard Oil and British Petroleum who basically recognized the Bedoin nomads (See Lawrence of Arabia) and went against the Turks (See Galipiloi) to get regimes friendly to oil concessions to Standard Oil and British Petroleum.

Same with the War of Northern Aggression. Look at all those folks in Eastern Kentucky mountains who don't even own the rights to their land (save a house they live in in the surface) because Kentucky was neutral in that war but after the war all that timber and coal was taken from the citizens and held by a handful of families in Philadelphia and New York City to this very day.

In the Middle East we have our kids fighting and dying so some multinational or private equity group can sell that cheap oil back to the rest of us at GREATLY inflated prices.

WRONG ,, thats liberal ,commie rewriting of history,

We lied about having more nukes (which didn't do as much damage as firebombing Tokyo). Everyone says the bluff "worked", but Oppenheimer's russian moles were already leaking info. Russian & American invasions were the real catalyst for the surrender, and proves we never had to drop them in the first place. Dropping Nukes was the biggest mistake ever, the genie will never go back in the bottle. Henry Wallace doesn't drop those bombs. But the MIC always wins. Surprised Eisenhower didn't catch a stray for calling them out like he did.

Indian Chief, “Two Eagles,” was asked by a white government official, “You have observed the white man for 90 years. You’ve seen his wars and his technological advances. You’ve seen his progress, and the damage he’s done.”

The Chief nodded in agreement.

The official continued, “Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?”

The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied. “When white man find land, Indians running it. No taxes, No debt, Plenty buffalo, Plenty beaver, Clean Water; Women did all the work at camp, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; All night [making love to wife.]

Then the chief leaned back and smiled. “Only white man dumb enough to think he can improve system like that.”

Add all that up, and even with the victory at Stalingrad in early 1943, by the end of that year the Red Army, and indeed the Soviet Union itself, would not have lasted past the end of the year if not for Lend Lease.

Well worth it. Keeping the Reich away from the oil in Baku was incredibly important.

that's a stupid comparison. it took hundreds, if not thousands, of sorties to do to Tokyo what one single bomb did to Hiroshima.

now that's the kind hot take i came here to downvote.

Any specific examples you would like to argue against? This is a “hot takes” thread after all.
