New Orleans would be a solid #2, alone by itself in Murders, had Katrina not happened. They got lucky when 100K+, left to trash Houston and commit crimes and murder there.
New Orleans got lucky as frick they were able to shed that large of a number of culcha.

Without Katrina, NOLA would be bigger. And blacker.

Would probably still be in Slidell, which wouldn’t be the new Chalmette. Chalmette wouldn’t be the new ninth ward. The ninth ward wouldn’t be the new hipsterville. Traffic would flow better in Covington and Mandeville. The old Mercy hospital might still be caring for the sick. You could probably safely drive on most of the streets in Lakeview. But the threat of flooding would probably still be the same, so some things are still the same.

Ah yes, an open air stadium in a city where the first half of the season is Africa hot followed by two weeks of nice weather then just cold and wet for the rest. What a great idea.

Baton Rudge would be much nicer

all Katrina did was spread the roaches to more cities. It was better when they lived in one spot.

How in the heck did Katrina negatively affect Houston and Baton Rouge ? You’re city problems were coming anyway. Houston is going to be in a huge dive for decades on end with the new Hispanic culture that’s fixin to gobble it up. The entire state of Texas with be majority Hispanic by 2020. Hard working people but will feel entitled and become government dependent within 15 years. Texas will be a shithole place with quickness and they’ll wish it was 2006. New Orleans is an impressive mix of people and historic culture that is a model for the future. I’m over 60 and New Orleans is booming and more impressive than any time in my lifetime. Love it and it’s better than ever. The other cities mentioned here are spiraling downward fast

Katrina was a bath that New Orleans needed IMO.
That’s pretty fricked, man.

What really killed the post Katrina momentum was the effort to get rid of Jim Letten in the U. S. Attorney's office. He was making real progress rooting out corruption.

I don’t know about NO, but Houston would be a little better off!
New Orleans lost a lot of its cultured entrepreneurial class to Houston and Dallas. It was single biggest talent drain ever and you should all be thankful we sent you our best and brightest!

Cultured or cultcha'd?

The problem is that it was a bath for the citizens but turned into a cesspool for the politicians due to the money. City was in an awesome position to turn a corner and become a powerhouse in the south again. Instead the political corruption kept NOLA doing business as usual.
To be fair they did get a lot right. Yes you have Naqin and the Sewage & Water board mess. But the city is way better off then in it was 15 years ago.
-just had the lowest murder rate in 47 years, this year will be lower
-police and schools are being run better than they have in generations
-tourism is booming
-this city is wealthier and more diverse than before Katrina
-housing prices are at an all-time high over $500 a square foot in some places. It is forcing more of the working poor to the suburbs since they can't keep up with rising housing cost. Latter and Blum VP called it a "second Katrina"

I think they reproduce pretty fast so the few that stayed in BR have helped the population explode

It's really strange.
It's like a BC to AD moment in the cities history

Why in the hell anyone would ever list their property with Latter & Blum/CJ BrownVan Eatin Romero is beyond me since this is the SJW business model they are promoting.
