I’ve split skin wide open to the bone with a power tool.

Went to urgent care for stitches/staples. They told me i was lucky the physician in that day had time in the er and was adept with those types of injuries or they would have made me go to ER. They thought i was out of my mind for going to urgent care and not the ER

Accidentally pierced my eyelid with a spring from a pistol magazine. I got it out (it was in 2-3 rotations) but I thought I should get it looked at.

Not one MFer there ever mentioned eye protection.

This is outdated and not what doctors advise. If fever is high but responding to meds there’s no need to freak out.

I've recently determined that gut feeling is sometimes better than the doctor's advice.

My dad had lung cancer and part of his lung removed. Was doing well but got sick and went to his PCP and was diagnosed with the flu. A few days later it had gotten worse even with the medication he was given. My mom called his PCP to tell him how weak my dad was and how much worse it had gotten. PCP said to keep taking medicine and there was no reason to go to the ER. That night he went into cardiac arrest due to the toll it was taking on his heart from his weakened lungs. Even though he didn't go into cardiac arrest until he was loaded into the ambulance, he went about 10 minutes with no heart beat. He passed away due to the brain damage a couple of weeks later.

Moral of the story, sometimes it's best to ignore the doctors and go with your gut.

Not sure if in BR or not but while I’ve never been I wouldn’t equate Woman’s with rest if ER’s

I’m curious to know if anyone has ever been, almost went last week due to post surgical issue but SO decided to wait it out & on call Dr ok’d

I've had to go to get stitched up a few times over the past few years.

A couple of years ago I had a staph infection on my throat that didn't respond to Bactrim. Woke up and my entire chest and half of my back was red and I had fever. Went to the ER as quick as I could. Ended up on it drips and shite. I'd go again in a heartbeat for another staph like that.

A lot.

But others have been trained to use it as their primary care (including ambulance rides).

That would be the Democrat types. Us poor working souls know that the bill for this would cost an arm and a leg but the Dems not even a bill.

Stovetop burner wasn’t turned all the way off so there was a slow leak for about 4-5 hours before my son caught it. Friendly note, mount your carbon monoxide detectors a little lower and not on the ceiling bc it’s heavier than air and will settle low.

Maybe switch to induction? It gives better temperature control and doesn’t kill children or their parents.

Some people go to ER for anything and everything like your regular doctor. When i was growing up, you better be on your deathbed or have a bone sticking out to go to ER.

Extreme inextricable pain. Profuse uncontrolled bleeding. Or the combination of the 2 secondary to a BJ gone wrong.

Compound fracture with exposed bone. Heart attack.

I’m not 100% positive but if the fire isn’t on I don’t think that would actually be carbon monoxide. Same thing happened to me and after some research I believe it’s just natural gas which can be harmful. I have detectors as well and none of them went off.

I’m not particularly familiar with BR Women’s. Skipped that hospital altogether in training and did not settle in the area.

Page 4 and no one will see this, but please go to the ER for severe chest pains. I tried toughing it out and really thought it was a lung issue. But it got so bad I had the wife take me to the ER and I had a heart attack in triage. If I had lingered at home a little while longer I might not be here.

I laugh my arse off after transporting a patient with minor complaints and can walk/drive themselves to an ER thinking they will get seen faster only to have the hospital staff send them to the waiting room to await triage

My favorite thing to ask an EMS crew on the radio that's bringing in a patient is, "Is this patient a candidate for triage?"

You should only go for an emergency. I broke my collarbone and didn't go to the ER. I also ruptured my ACL and didn't go to the ER.

Reasons I'd go:

-Respiratory distress.
-Uncontrollable bleed.
-Chest pain not relieved by rest.
-If anything that is supposed to be inside of my body suddenly is exposed to the outside.
-If anything that is supposed to be attached to me becomes suddenly detached.
-Pain not affected by OTC pain meds

Our local urgent care clinic doesn’t take my healthcare exchange Humana insurance so I unfortunately have to use it for most of my hospital needs. I try to time it so I go in the evening if it’s non-urgent (cold, sore throat, etc.). Wait times are not as bad.

You would think the healthcare exchange plans would be better after all of the work it took to get ObamaCare passed. I have unfortunately been disappointed.

Would have to essentially have a stroke and someone notice I started having symptoms or my heart was beating out of my chest. Legit would have to feel like I was dying. Can’t imagine going there for a headache or fever only to be sitting there for half the day before you are finally seen

That’s because you probably have insurance

If people are uninsured they can go to the ER and not get turned away and get seen without having to pay the bill.

The last time I went, it was because I had snapped my humerus in half like a twig. Short of that, I'd rather not go.

An ER is just a fricking walk-in clinic for welfare recipients.

I went to the doctor in early December and was sent to the ER from his office due to low oxygen levels. I figured it was a complication of the flu but turned out to be a pulmonary embolism.

I had a gallbladder issue and was throwing up for about 10 straight hours. Went to ER and got fluids.

$2400.

I will literally never go back for any reason ever.

Same. I have never been, and I am old.

Completely tore ACL, i HEARD it snap. I got up and my knee tried to bend backwards like a bird’s leg. Husband helped me to the truck (we were out hiking), got home late, went to dr. the next day. MRI showed it detached and coiled like a snail in there.

I hate when people use ER as PCP.
