Also to the other part of comment you replied to, carbon monoxide is actually slightly lighter than air. It’s small enough that along with a continuing source it can seeming sit and also fill up a room fairly evenly, but it still rises.
Interesting. Firefighter/EMT told me differently in the ambulance. Or I’m remembering incorrectly which could also be true. I do remember him telling me I can just buy the plug in ones that would have caught it sooner than the detectors on our high ceilings.

I’m supposed to have surgery this month and I’m wondering if I can do it without pain meds after.
Absolutely not. You’re having major surgery. Get the pain meds and take them as directed. You don’t want to try that surgery sans narcotics.

People abuse the ER. Stumped toe, sore back etc even with urgent cares now where you don't have to pay. Some come b/c they ran out of their prescription, some come for a sandwich and chips (homeless) some come b/c they have a foreign body in their arm (needle). Heart related issues are one of the few reasons you should go to the ER (that and head issues like stroke).

A kidney stone.
That’s the only time as an adult I went to the ER.
Other time was a severe gash to my leg when I was 5

Since my heart surgeries in 2016, I’ve had to go three or four times, always for the same reason. I can’t remember the exact name of it, but sometimes my blood pressure just bottoms out. It’s an awful feeling when it comes on, followed by loss of consciousness. 0/10, would not recommend.
*knock on wood* it hasn’t happened in a couple years.

I got shot in the abdomen and taken by ambulance to UCLA Med Center.
Do not remember and had surgery they said was around 9pm.
Woke up in ICU, they I guess had one surgeon 5 fellows, and they kept me up until I got a room at 8 am.
They wanted me to move my hands and feet to make sure I had no nerve damage.
Yeah, I got up and took my first steps at 9am walking down the hospital hall.
Only felt pain when the pain medicine wore off the next night.
I pushed that button on that machine big time when the pain medicine wore off.
Chemo, was anemic temp was 103, and had to be admitted back into the hospital to get my white blood cells back up. By the time I got a room, my counts came up while my temperature went back down.

I went when I had super bad abdominal pains and turned out that my ovary turned on itself and it was dying. Had to have surgery to remove it. Time before that was when I went into labor and they make you go through the ER to make sure you’re actually in labor before sending you up to the maternity ward.

Some of the reasons I’ve gone to the ER
Broken collarbone
Large limb fell on me while cutting a tree down. Knocked me out.
Throwing up for 8-10 hours straight.
Kidney Stone
Stitches after I put my hand through a window while working.

I’m a nurse, and I had 8/10 abdominal pain which progressively transitioned lower and lower…left work and went home…and ended up passing a kidney stone.
That’s how much I DONT want to go to the emergency room.

Last September my stomach started hurting really bad after eating lunch. Thought it was food poisoning at first. About 8hrs later of no flying shits and constant pain, I went into the ER because something felt off. Turns out I had a calcification completely blocking my appendix, and it was about to burst. They kept me overnight and removed it at 8am the next morning. Don’t be afraid to go to the ER if you’re unsure about what’s going on with your body.

Whelp. Did it this past Sunday.
Swollen knee, bright red and intense pain. Then I began running fever.
I was a hair away from them admitting me to the hospital for potential joint infection. However, they drained blood from the knee as pull tons of blood elsewhere. Numbers had the Orthopedic surgeon encouraged so he discontinued IV antibiotics and allowed me to go home.
Was lucky I guess, but there’s shite out there that wants to kill you. Especially if you’re north of 50.

Hmmmmm, a saddle pulmonary embolism. Happened in November. Was asymptotic for the PE but was concerned I had a DVT in my left calf. Was at the point where I turn left and go home or turn right and go to the ER. Glad I did because when they put me on the multi-monitor my SPO2 was 91-92 and my BP was 148/116 neither of which a DVT in the calf would cause.
