Not the worst idea I ever heard. But maybe we could start by banning cars with out-of-state plates. There's no reason Herb and Gladys from Dubuque need to be clogging up Decatur St.

Buildings would start collapsing as the gobment tried to write specs for bidding on repair jobs.
Everything would be open to bid, from light bulbs for illumination to materials used for downspouts. (No longer could copper be used for those parts that the locals couldn't reach to steel, but copper would be required for the entire downspout.) Parts of the Quarter is part of Jean Lafitte, I thought. I have seen park rangers conducting tours for decades.

1) A small chunk of it already is one.
2) It would be poorly managed by a combination of lowest bidders and indifferent/incompetent public employees.
3) Would all the businesses have to become govt contractors?
4)It would be shut down annually during the budget battles in Congress
5) Historic properties would quickly run down and crumble
6) It would prove that even a troubled, inefficient, and dirty private sector is far superior to any public one.
