I was on my way to work. I was having a hard time processing what was going on listening to Peter Jennings in my car. When I got in the car, he was describing what happened to the first tower then after just moments he stopped and said something to the effect of "Oh my God, a second plane has just struck the other building."

Left them on the ground but we were scrambling to get their "Cargo" back into storage ASAP.

13yo in the Middle School Library. School was dismissed early and I remember watching Fox News all day.

Had an Econ professor play the call from an American Airlines flight attendant who was on the 1st plane. Absolutely chilling and amazing how she kept her calm. Asian lady cant remember her name but God Bless her.

Freshman year of high school.. I was in the hall before civics class, people were talking about it but I didn’t realize the scale of what was going on

Coach Maples (civics teacher) put the TV on when we got to class. None of us had any clue what was really happening until they got all the military kids out of school (our school is right outside a military base)

Is there an OT thread from that day?

Lived in Manhattan and was attending school on the upper east side (P.S. 8). I was in 4th grade and remember clear as day a few kids just randomly got picked up from school.. phone call came to my teacher and she started panicking and put us under our desks. we were all scared and within 10 minutes of her crying and many kids scared, my mother picked me up. she held onto me for dear life. we walked home to 88th street and told me not to look back, but I remember obviously looking back and seeing just smoke in the sky. I couldn't actually see the twin towers. I got home and my parents were nervous and my mom crying and as sad as this sounds, I was cheering because we had no school. I legit did not understand the concept of terrorists. Scary time in my life.

Heard about the first one listening to the radio in the shower. Turned on my TV'S, and saw the second one hit. Was headed out the door to work, so I saw it on a little 13 inch TV in my kitchen. Had to leave after watching the replay one time. When I got to work some people were watching the news in our conference room.

I hung an American flag in my bedroom window facing an elementary school the week after. I wanted 'them' to know there was an infidel in that condo. Still locked, loaded, and waiting!

walking down 6th avenue south toward a tower on fire .... confusion abound. Cars stopped, people crying, radios on ... it felt truly like a movie.

made it about 4 blocks and one of the towers started to drop. Couldn't hear anything ... eerie. Turned around and went to my apartment to watch like the aftermath like everyone else. Sat on the roof that night and watched the jets circle the city.

I was living in South Texas at the time. There were heat concerns about 7th graders practicing after school

Today is my birthday, and I was 5 years old when this tragedy occurred. Although I do not remember much from that day, I vividly remember just seeing two buildings on fire on our TV. We also went to go to Chuck e Cheese (as any 5 year old would want to do) but they and just about every place my family drove to were closed. May God bless those who lost their life, and those who risked everything to save countless lives.

I was in the 5th grade, my teacher was the principals wife and I remember him coming into the classroom (something that never happened) and they announced over the intercom a while after that what had happened. I remember not quite understanding what had happened, but started to understand after I got off school and went to my grandmothers and she had the tv on, then my mom and dad after they had picked my little sister and myself up.

Amphib School, Coronada Island, CA. 2nd day of ANGLICO school. As a Naval Officer joining a Marine unit, thought to myself ... is this great timing or what. I had no idea what I would do or see over the next four years!
