I prefer to cook my own meals but i live in CBD now, too many fine establishments within walking distance to pass up on

see to my needs and reply to questions i ask, maybe ask if i need refills but otherwise dont try to be my friend.
im frickin eating so i dont want to stop eating and let my food get cold so you can start a meaningless conversation when we both know you couldnt care less about it.
i do notice waiters who get to know you if you eat there regularly tend to feel like they need to have a conversation so you dont feel like you are being ignored or neglected. it goes both ways with this one because if a waiter you see regularly doesnt say anything to you but quietly serves you in peace, many people would get insulted thinking they arent being friendly enough because you arent liked for some reason. i find irt best to do a quick convo as you get there and then avoid eye contact afterwards, maybe give an aknowledge of service thank you or nod if they come to the table

A competent one works for me

Order the meal and drinks and leave us alone (meaning no fake chit chat)..Walk by at least twice and try to make eye contact to see if we need anything..

If she's hot...talk to me all you want.
If not...shut up and get my food please

Doesnt matter as long as they get the job done. I dont mind one that will be more talkative so long as they don't interrupt the meal.

This.
If I'm at a nicer place, I do like them be talk about what's good, whats a good wine to pair with the meal, etc.
If I'm in another city it's nice when they are friendly enough to suggest other restaurants/bars, and general things a visitor might be interested in.

It gets a bit irritating when you just get a mouthful of food and the waiter pops by asking, "Is everything OK?"

I miss the old, poor, in law school, Chicken Nugget, party pizza eatin' Poo.

Those things stumbled in from grazing?

I'm not typically too picky when it comes to wait staff but if you sit down at my table or booth, your tip is automatically cut in half.

I don’t go eat out for the waitress, but I’m pretty disappointed right off the bat if I sit down at the bar and a male bartender walks out.
