My older 2 don’t live with me full time and their mother spoils them to no end, so I have to make up for that when they’re here.

17m does all outside stuff, painted and helped build a shed last week. Takes care of his laundry and generally speaking, picks up behind himself. I give him 150/mo for gas and extra cash here and there when he needs it.

13f cooks, does dishes, light cleaning and picks up behind herself and babysits occasionally. $20 here and there and extra cash when she’s going on vacay with her mom or needs a new dress for a dance, etc.

4f picks up her dinner dishes and her toys. Also helps mom put away her laundry.

2m helps load the outside fridge with drinks, and picks up his toys.

I get them occasional surprises (hatchimals, pool toys, etc)

"I remember when .49c got you a gallon of gas and cutting yards got $5.00. Point being, you may need to adjust for inflation."

It was shite work. He owned part of a transmission shop so I was dumping used transmission oil out back in tanks...cleaning tools, bathrooms, scrubbing floors with solvent. It was a six bay shop with 6 full time builders that were always full. Pop would sit in the office drinking coffee and read the paper. Can't say that I blame him but he wanted the place clean enough to perform an operation. The early Saturday mornings sucked when I discovered beer in high school. He passed last year so I am thankful for the time together. ....although it would have been nicer fishing or on the golf course...ha.

I make my 4 year old let the dog in and out of the house, feed her, and pick up toys after they are done playing (last one goes for my 2.5 year old too).

Other than that, it's just making sure they put their dirty clothes in the hamper, trash in the trash can, shoes in the basket, etc.

Boy - 11
Girl - 9

During the school year they are so busy with school/sports, we don't ask much of them other than keep their rooms clean and their laundry done, along with keeping up grades.

For summer, they do the following every week day:
Clean room
Straighten up their bathroom
Laundry
Dishes
Clean up kitchen counter/table
Pick up living room
Read 30 mins
Exercise 30 mins

Their reward is access to the xbox.

A lot of it is laundry related like bringing all dirty laundry to the laundry room, helping batch clothes (lights, darks, towels, scrubs, reds, others), going through mismatched socks to make pairs, etc.

When we get a dog, they will be tasked with bathroom duty, walking it, feeding it, watering it, etc.

As far as kids, 13 F, 8 F, 5 M. The 8F is most responsible by far. If she is away from the other two she is capable of doing more complex chores and being a true help.

11m - Clean room, clean bathrooms

4f - Clean room, pick up dirty clothes

Sometimes my 4 year old daughter it depends on her mood. Sometimes she wants to do everything. I hope she has that work ethic at 13 and beyond. But other times when we ask her to do something, she likes to challenge our patience.

My 11 year old son always makes a 20 minute chore list last 3-4 hours. But he doesn’t go outside or play Xbox until he’s done.

It's good to give kids chores or at least teach them.

at a certain age my mom said, not doing your laundry anymore. Fast forward to college, was surprised the amount of "adults" that took their laundry home or would just wear dirty clothes.

Worked a restaurant, remember a girl telling the manager she had never swept before, didn't know how. She was in her 20s.

My parents would also make me cook for them so I would know all the basic shite before I left home.

This is an impressive list. I have to remind a 10 yo to remove her damned plate from the table when she’s finished eating. She’s never once touched the dishwasher. She’s a good kid, but she’s an only child, and has had everything done for her forever. It doesn’t even occur to her to pour her own drink when she’s thirsty. I’m going to borrow from your list to make a daily checklist for her.

This sounds like my uncle. I used to hate going to my cousin's house during the summer at that age, because I'd have to help them do all this before we could do anything fun (or, more frequently, rush to do it all before he got home).

Then my uncle would come home and bitch about how the dishwasher was loaded or his t-shirts were folded.

Trash duty, getting eggs/taking care of chickens, folding their own clothes.

$10 per month allowance.

Best punishment by far is no electronics. That said, I’ve threatened to get a couple of wheelbarrows full of bricks and make a rule-breaker carry them all by hand from one side of the yard to the other. No point or purpose: Just sheer punishment. For now, they either lose electronics or have to sweep the porches.

Below 14?

He empties the dishwasher every morning, and he goes to the grocery store with his brother and sister every weekend to do groceries and unload them. Plus, he picks weeds.

Daughter 14 (no pics fkrs)
1.empty dishwasher - I do the loading because her and the wife drive me crazy the way they do it.
2.Folds clothes and puts them on the bed of the owner to be put away by them
3. take out trash as needed when she's home -she has dance class and 2 jobs, so she's pretty busy. If she's gone her chores are taken up by either myself or the wife
4. help with the dog and cat
5. She will help clean her little bros rooms when they make a big mess
No allowance, but she does make pretty good money babysitting and working at the local snow-cone stand. Plus if she needs stuff for dance ect, we buy it.
